Barbara's obituary
Barbara DeFulio, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on June 8, 2025. Born on April 17, 1941, Barbara lived a life full of love, kindness, and positivity. Her spirit and memory will be preserved and celebrated by those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her cherished daughter, Cheri Riggio, her caring son-in-law, Tom Riggio, and her beloved granddaughters, Isabella and Lila Riggio. Their bond with Barbara was built on moments of joy, shared stories, and mutual respect. They will forever carry her teachings and love in their hearts.
Barbara was a proud 1959 graduate of Battin High School, Elizabeth, NJ, and maintained a lifelong love of learning and reading. Among her favorite books were literally all she came across, highlighting her voracious thirst for knowledge.
As much as she loved learning, Barbara also held a special affection for travel. The beaches of Aruba and the beautiful landscapes of Hawaii ranked among her most loved destinations. These were the places where she felt most at peace and where she created some of her most treasured memories.
Known to her community as a woman of great kindness and compassion, Barbara often expressed love and care through her actions. Her most passionate causes were rooted in her family's well-being and happiness. She always advocated for positivity, earning her the affectionate nickname, 'the rainbow girl'.
A lover of the color red, Barbara believed in the power of passion and love. Her kind and caring personality touched everyone she met. She was a mother to her children, a guiding light to her granddaughters, and a friend to anyone fortunate enough to know her.
Barbara's greatest accomplishment, as she would often say, was her family. The love and bonds she cultivated will continue to grow and strengthen in her memory. She will be dearly missed, but her legacy will live on in the lessons she imparted and the love she shared.
