It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Barbara Schnabel; a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. Born on October 26, 1948, Barbara transitioned from this life on February 29, 2024. A warm heart and creative spirit, Barbara will be remembered for her kindness, politeness, and sense of humor that continually brought joy to those around her.
Barbara is survived by her sons, Ryan and Chad Schnabel, her daughter-in-laws, Maribel and Rebekah Schnabel, and her beloved grandchildren, Weston, Pierce, Scarlet, and Clara. Barbara was the cherished sister of Sharon Martin and Lori Quinn. Her memory will furthermore be enshrined by numerous friends and extended family members who loved her deeply. Barbara was predeceased by her parents, Wayland 'Curly' King and Ruby King, her brother Larry King, as well as her ex-husband, Ronald Schnabel and boyfriend Brady Daniels.
After graduating from Rancho Alamitos High School in 1966, Barbara married Ronald Schnabel in 1968. Together, they welcomed two sons who became her greatest accomplishment.
Barbara had a passion for life that was reflected in her diverse interests. As an avid fan of country music, she enjoyed the tunes of Reba McEntire, Garth Brooks, Dolly Parton, and Kenny Rodgers. Barbara also loved Mexican cuisine, the light-hearted humor of Golden Girls, and movies like Dirty Dancing, Footloose, and An Officer and a Gentleman.
An active woman, Barbara was an equestrian, who loved her horses nearly as much as her family. She enjoyed a good game of 31, the art of crocheting, bowling, and riding her horses. Her favorite local spots were Circle N and Taylor's Roping Arena. Barbara also had a deep love for animals, demonstrated by her support for organizations such as ASPCA.
Barbara's legacy of kindness, respect, and love for her fur babies will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. She was a beacon of light, laughter, and love, and her absence will be profoundly felt.
Barbara’s life demonstrated the importance of kindness and respect, and her radiant personality will be missed by all. We take solace in knowing Barbara’s spirit lives on, through her family, her love for life, and her lasting impact on those who knew her.
