Barbara's obituary

Barbara Mae Salancik, 83, a cherished member of the Elmhurst, IL community, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2023, at Chapters Living in Elmhurst. She was born on January 5, 1940, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Andrew and Anna Salancik.

Barbara attended high school and went on to build a fulfilling career as a CNA insurance office personnel. Her dedication to her work reflected her commitment to helping others and making a positive impact on their lives.

Beyond her professional life, Barbara was a woman of diverse passions. She found solace and joy in the strokes of a paintbrush, the camaraderie of bowling, and the tranquility of nurturing her garden. Her love for these activities reflected her vibrant and creative spirit.

Barbara will be remembered for her contagious smile that lit up any room. Her kindness knew no bounds, and she treated everyone she met with warmth and compassion. A devoted Chicago Cubs fan, she celebrated victories and weathered defeats with unwavering loyalty.

To her family, Barbara was a loving and supportive Aunt, leaving behind cherished memories of shared moments and a legacy of unconditional love. Her loyal dog and companion, Lucky, will miss her presence dearly.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Anna Salancik, as well as her sister Lois (Charles Jerry) Moore and brothers Gene (Alice) Salancik and Gerry (Cyd) Salancik. She is survived by her brother Richard (Evann) Salancik and many nieces and nephews who will carry on her memory.

A graveside service will be held on December 18, 2023, at 11 AM at the gravesite in Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Arlington Heights, IL. Her legacy of love, kindness, and passion will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
