Barbara's obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Sue Reif on May 9th, 2020 at Banner Desert Hospital, in Tempe, Arizona. Barbara was born to Gerald and LaVonne Reif on June 19th, 1962 in Olivia, Minnesota and grew up in Glencoe, Minnesota where she graduated high school from the Glencoe Senior High. Barb lived around the Minneapolis, Minnesota area for many years, while working for a hearing aid manufacturer, before leaving the work force in 2010. Barbie enjoyed being a loving Aunt, and even though the Mets were her favorite baseball team, she loved taking her nieces and nephews to Twins games for Dome dogs and to Vikings games and to Prince concerts. In 2015 Barbie relocated to Tempe, Arizona where she lived with her sister and brother-in-law and enjoyed having her Mother winter with them in the Arizona sunshine. Barbie is survived by her sisters; Mary Randall, Connie Sandvig and Theresa (Dan) Sherwood and her brother; David (CarrieJo) Reif, her nieces and nephews; Jasmine Sandvig, Jerry (Kory) Sandvig, Jenai Sandvig, Elizabeth (Nick) McGrane, Stephanie (Ryan) Hassel, Harley Reif, Mariana Leonard-Meyers, great nieces and nephews; Teddy Sandvig, Kayden Hassel, Riley McGrane, Livvy Hassel and Billie Jean Sandvig. Barbie is preceded in death by her parents, grand-parents, one sister; Susan Denise Reif and one niece; AmyAnn Sherwood a.k.a. Louisa Leonard-Meyers. Barbie always considered Minnesota to be her home and treasured the dear friends she spent time with there, but she also grew to love her new life in the South West. She loved visiting the ocean and the beauty of the desert in bloom equally. Her days were always spent trying to get a game of Texas Hold Em' started, buying old furniture and restoring it, any kind of craft and teaching the dogs, Matilda and Oliver how to swim and floating with them in the pool. Barbie embraced as much of life as she could and treasured those she called friends and the time she spent with them. Barbie was a Survivor! A Strong and Amazing woman! She was a caring daughter, a loving sister, a wonderful aunt and devoted friend and will be dearly missed by her friends and family alike.
There will be a funeral service later this summer, details will be announced once finalized.
