Barbara Jean Phipps passed away peacefully in her sleep next to her cat at the age of 88 in Walnut Creek, CA on November 4, 2022. She had been a resident of San Ramon since 1971, raising her three kids, two grandchildren, and two great grandchildren there. She is survived by her brother, Art Buswell, her children, Cheri Scott, Kathy Southern, and Donald Phipps, her grandchildren, Kelsey Kostrzewa and Michele Bailey, and her great grandchildren, Trenton Dayley and Rolan Dayley.

Barbara grew up in Tulare, CA. After overcoming polio as a child, doctors speculated that she may never be able to walk or run again. Not only did she learn to walk, she frequently enjoyed water skiing across lakes all over California and Nevada. She worked for the San Ramon Valley School District while raising her kids, and after retiring pursued her hobbies of gardening, baking, sewing, and embroidering. She loved children, animals, murder mysteries, and spending time with her family. She had a great sense of humor and a penchant for storytelling.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either Meals on Wheels or the ASPCA.
