Barbara Ann Jarrett (Parent) of Laconia, NH passed away, tragically, January 25, 2022.

Barbara was a vibrant, beautiful soul, who spent her life striving to help people and put a smile on their faces. She spent her childhood in New Hampshire, moving to Connecticut in her teens to finish high school in Hartford. Barbara spent her time in CT starting her own family. Raising her 5 children in the Ellington and Vernon school systems. Her kids brought her purpose and pride.

She spent most of her working career as the manager at Sally Beauty Supply in Vernon, where her love of helping people and glam was highlighted as she catered to her many regular customers in the community- building confidence, one beauty product at a time.

Barbara is survived by her ex-husband and lifelong friend- Orrin Jarrett of Vernon, CT, her children- Edward Slaughter Jr. and his wife, Jessica of New Haven, CT, Latasha (Jarrett) Raineault and her husband, Jordan of West Hartford, CT, Orrin Jarrett and his wife, Emily of Vernon, CT, Whitney (Jarrett) Smith and her husband, Dylan of Waterford, CT and Joshua Jarrett of Vernon, CT. Additionally she leaves behind her beloved grandchildren- Edward, Angelina and Jocelyn Slaughter, Maya and Sydney Raineault and Baby girl Smith arriving in July.

Barbara is preceded by her parents- Sylvio N. & Ora (Parizo) Parent and her 4 brothers- Rex Sr., Michael, Norman and Amos.

Aside from family, Barbara will be missed by so many friends in CT and NH. Those who helped her through hard times and those she provided companionship and support back.

To know Barb was to love her. She was silly, spontaneous, always up for a good time and the life of the party. She brilliantly balanced her joyous spirit with mental health challenges and was an advocate for de-stigmatizing mental health services.

Barbara’s life was cut short as she began her battle with lung cancer. Those who knew and loved her will continue to grieve her loss. Her life will be celebrated this summer, in Barb fashion- with love, joy and fun. More details to come as events are confirmed
