Barbara's obituary
On December 26, 2023, our hearts were enveloped in sorrow as we bid farewell to a remarkable woman, Barbara Jean Haws. Her life, a testament to courage, dedication and unwavering strength resonated deeply within the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Born on November 30, 1940 to Edward Alvarado and Della Kinzer Alvarado, Barbara’s journey began in a place where her spirit and courageous soul would eventually touch the lives of many. Her role as a mother to Julie Renee, Melinda Susan, and James Royce Haws was not merely a title; it was avocation embraced with an immeasurable depth of love and devotion. From the bustling streets of Santa Clara, California to the serene landscapes of Olympia Washington, Barbara created a home where her children flourished in her care.
Throughout the chapters of her life, Barbara donned many hats with grace and resilience. A full-time wife and mother, a resilient entrepreneur, and later, a dedicated employee of the State of Washington-each role she embraced with unwavering commitment and a tenacious spirit. Yet, amidst her various pursuits, her heart remained anchored in her unwavering faith, her passion for painting, the joy she found in her culinary creations, and the warmth shared with her beloved Shitsu and companion, Bella.
Barbara found her greatest pride and joy in her three children and their expanding families. Her love and support were the cornerstones upon which her children flourished. She leaves behind a legacy of immeasurable love, faith, and courage that will continue to resonate through the generations.
In the embrace of eternal rest, Barbara is survived by her cherished daughters Julie Renee Haws Christie and Melinda Susan Alvarado, her son James Royce Haws, as well as her beloved older sister, Juanita Alvarado. While we mourn her absence, we find solace in the countless cherished memories she leaves behind.
To honor Barbara’s beautiful life, a celebration will be held at Rolling Hills Community Church, 20103 Dawn Drive, Lago Vista, Texas on February fourth at 2 p.m. For those unable to attend, the celebration will be streamed live via Facebook, allowing her extended circle of friends and loved ones to join in commemorating her life.
