Barbara was born January 7, 1948 in Evansville, IN to Raymond Niemeier and Jean (Burch) Niemeier. She was a 1966 graduate of Mater Dei High School. She received her nursing degree from the University of Evansville and began her journey of service to others. She moved to Tucson in the mid 1980s to practice integrative medicine and found a community of like-minded nurses through the Holistic Nurses Association. Even after retirement, she continued to work part-time using the skills and knowledge she accumulated over her lifetime to help and guide future generations. Barb loved her work with adults with developmental disabilities and really enjoyed her time as a school nurse with Amphi schools. A deeply spiritual person, who was also a lifetime reader, Barb also enjoyed crafting throughout her life, with scrapbooking being a source of joy and friendship until the end.
