Barbara's obituary
Barbara Ann (Blesh) Graham
Barbara Ann (Blesh) Graham, 81, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025, in Belmont, California. She was born on June 23, 1944, in Saranac Lake, New York, the cherished daughter of Richard Jesse Blesh and Lucille Alma (Cromie) Blesh.
Barbara’s early years were filled with family, music, and faith. She grew up in Syracuse, New York, where she was active in her church community, sang in the choir, and took accordion lessons. After graduating from North Syracuse High School in 1962, she married her high school sweetheart, Alan Graham, then a student at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on an Air Force ROTC scholarship. Their marriage became the foundation of her life, and together they shared nearly 63 years of love and devotion.
Barbara and Alan’s first child, a daughter named Bobbie Jean, was lost at birth. Though she carried that grief throughout her life, Barbara devoted herself wholeheartedly to raising their three surviving children. As a young Air Force wife, she embraced the challenges of frequent moves and long separations with resilience and grace. Her unwavering commitment to family shone through in the warm and nurturing home she created wherever life and duty took them.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Alan, and their children: Alan (Donna) Graham of San Jose, CA; Shawn (Rob) Mayer of Montgomery, TX; and Heather (Michael Sprague) Graham of Liverpool, NY. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, her brother, her sister-in-law, and a nephew and niece. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Bobbie Jean, and her parents, Richard and Lucille Blesh.
Barbara’s life was one of quiet dedication—rooted in her marriage, her family, her love of the Lord, and the traditions she held dear. She will be remembered for her steadfast support of her husband during his military service, her joy in singing hymns, and her gift for finding meaning and contentment in the everyday rhythms of life.
Her story was lovingly recorded many years ago by her mother, Lucille, who reflected on Barbara’s earliest years: “She was the first grandchild in our family… her Grandma Cromie, her Grandpa Cromie and Uncle Bob were all so proud of her.” That pride and love carried through her life, surrounding her from her first days to her final ones.
Barbara Ann lived a life of love, service, and quiet strength. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew her.
