Barbara was always wonderful, kind hearted and open armed to everyone around her. Barbara having the patience of dealing with a bunch of high school friends on a moments notice is a feat in itself.  She truly was a beautiful soul and will be missed dearly. Until next time Barbara ❤️

When I think of Barb, I remember how she worked to make everyone around her succeed, rather than just thinking about herself. From the moment I met her, she was thinking about how to make the Parks better, for the public, but also a place where we would work together, create something special, and have a lot of fun doing it. She really showed me the importance of kindness and how working as a team turned the workplace into a community. Even though I didn't see her often the last few years, I always felt like we would meet up sometime, just like always. I can't believe she's gone.

My friend Barb was my guiding light, my mentor and my protector. It has taken me over a week to post anything. But no amount of time will heal the pain I am now feeling. Maybe I think it was all just a bad dream and I will wake up soon. So sudden and unexpected was her passing. I am in shock.

 We worked together for many years at Seattle Parks and then after I retired, she continued to support and guide me. She always encouraged me to believe in myself and take chances. 'Build it and they will come; teach them and they will protect it".  Seattle's outdoor spaces are so much richer and better protected because of her work.  We worked together to bring the Salmon in the Schools programs to Seattle children. Her legacy will live on in our hearts and in the beautiful places each created for us all.

Dearest Miles and Vinnie,

I'm sending you heartfelt condolences. Your mom was one of the kindest people I knew. We first met while we worked for Seattle Parks...both making horticulture a career and retiring from there. I remember you so well when you were small boys...my son's Eugene and Max will always remember time with the three of you. I am truly saddened for your loss. Please convey my sympathies to your entire family.
