Avery's obituary

Avery Clinton Legan, age 38 of Bristol, IN passed away on September 12, 2020. He was born on December 8, 1981 in Valparaiso, IN to Frank and Noreen (Meierkort) Legan.

Avery is survived by his mother, Noreen Legan; fiancé, Heather Nihart; daughter, Temperance Nihart; step-son, Casey Balser, brothers, Frank (Renee) Legan, Jebediah (Naomi) Legan; sisters, J.R. Steele, Laura (Matt) Schulze, Sandra (Tom) Gazler, Donna (Martin) Smith and Darla Slickton; nephew, Ashton; nieces, Skye and McKenna and many other nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Legan and sister, Noreen Legan.

Avery loved to cook, grow mushrooms and garden. He was very active outdoors where he was a runner and he enjoyed bicycling and taking hikes on the beach. Avery played all kinds of instruments like the guitar, piano and drums and he was an avid music lover. He never knew a stranger and was very generous and help anyone he could. Avery was very invested in being the best father to Temperance and would share his knowledge and really gave himself to her and Heather. He was a loving son, fiancé, father, brother and uncle and will be deeply missed.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 18, 2020 at 11:00 am at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN 46304 with Pastor Allen Wright officiating. Burial to take place at Chesterton Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2020 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the family for funeral expenses.
