Ava's obituary
Ava Pauline Gregory, 93, of Glenview, IL passed away peacefully on November 8, 2022, at The Abington of Glenview.
Ava Pauline born on June 3, 1929, in Corinth, Mississippi, the daughter of Parents John Henry Walker and Minnie Mae Walker (nee Whitaker) .
Ava had a love of life, dedication to her family, many friends, and people who loved her. She had a contagious laugh that made everyone around her join in laughing and was a vivid storyteller who shared her life lessons and experiences with those closest. With a smile and sparkle in her eyes her experiences would come alive and captivate the listener. She was hilarious, feisty, amazing, and stubborn, as the youngest often are in close knit families. She never met someone who wasn’t a potential friend or acquaintance, sharing with them how pretty or handsome they were - she always seemed to know when someone needed to hear something lovely. She was giving, often feeding others when they were in need. A mother to many but to us she was Momma: complex, fierce, and unafraid to face anything or anyone head on. She will always be a wonderful dancer, a plant lover working magic on anything she touched, storyteller, mother, grandmother, and matriarch of our family to be remembered forever in our hearts.
Remaining to cherish Ava’s memory are children; Deborah Rodriguez, Donna Kaminski, Victoria Rodriguez-Dreumont (husband Al) and Mark Walker; grandchildren, Lavina Rappath (husband Andrew), Neil Chavez (wife April), Elyse Poshard, Michael Kaminski (wife Carly), Katherine Kaminsky, Alexander Walker, Jamie Zarn; great-grandchildren; Stephen Lugo, Victoria Chavez, Samuel Chavez, Nathaniel Chavez, Emanuel Chavez and Dove Kaminsky.
Preceding in death are her beloved husband, Joseph R Gregory; cherished son, Robert Rodriguez; and loved granddaughter Jaqueline Bayne.
