Aurelia's obituary

Aurelia Estelle Yarbrough

December 26, 1946 – September 5, 2024

Aurelia Estelle Yarbrough passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of September 5, 2024, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Born to Clifford Jolly Yarbrough, Jr., and Laura Longnion Yarbrough Reaves, and lovingly raised by her stepfather, Charles Reaves, Aurelia was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved Great Danes—Greta, Garbo, Griffin, and Grayson. She is survived by her brother, Clifford "Rocky" Yarbrough III (Renee), along with extended family and countless lifelong friends who adored her.

Aurelia attended Beauty School and began a career in the vibrant world of hairstyling, where she owned a salon in Louisiana. A fervent admirer of Elvis, she and her friends attended numerous concerts. After meeting Elvis and notable members of the Memphis Mafia, Aurelia moved to Memphis, Tennessee where she occasionally cut Elvis’s hair when he was in town and became a member of his inner circle.

Aurelia led an extraordinary life, brimming with bold adventures, resilience, and remarkable achievements. As a gifted storyteller, she chronicled her experiences, including a cherished and unique relationship with Elvis Presley during her time in Memphis, Tennessee.

Devastated by Elvis’s passing, Aurelia relocated to Houston to be closer to family. She then moved to California and discovered her true calling in the motion picture industry. Aurelia worked at Warner Brothers as an executive assistant to top brass and Producers, meeting stars such as George Clooney.

Aurelia played a pivotal role in connecting an agent from Pacific-Southern Music Industries to sign a two-million-dollar contract with a band her brother Rocky performed with in Houston, known as Sabannah Breeze.

Aurelia  provided a safe haven for many friends in need at her beloved home in Sherman Oaks, California. Her final role in the movie industry was as a cherished personal assistant to acclaimed actor Brian Dennehy until her retirement.

Devoted to her Great Danes, Aurelia was also a passionate golfer and talented culinary artist known for her Southern and Cajun cuisine.

Aurelia was a radiant presence with a dazzling smile and a fun-loving personality. She had a remarkable ability to make every moment memorable, leaving a trail of joy, laughter, and delightful chaos wherever she went.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Gentle Giants Rescue—an organization close to Aurelia’s heart dedicated to rescuing Great Danes— in her memory are greatly appreciated.

Aurelia’s love for life,  her family,  her friends, and her Great Danes will remain a lasting source of inspiration for all who knew her.

Aurelia Estelle Yarbrough
