Dear Aiden and Steve

I was so saddened to read about Audreys passing. If anyone could have kicked cancer’s ass, I’d have thought it would be Audrey with her feisty spirit! I know that neither of you know me, but suffice it to say that Audrey was very special to me, and I feel so privileged to have been her friend. I last saw her was in January of 2020, and although she was ill, she was her beautiful, feisty, hilarious self. She was so easy to adore. She hired me back in 2008, giving me the chance of a lifetime to travel the country for 4 years as a math professional learning consultant. We became fast friends. I was so happy for her when she left Nelson, but sad for me  to a special workmate.

Audrey talked about both of you as the absolute loves of her life. Aiden, you were the light of her world and Steve, you were her joy and the renewed sparkle in her eyes! She felt so blessed to have you both by her side!

I am participating in The Cancer Society’s 2022 Dry February Challenge in support of my husband (kidney cancer) and my son (testicular cancer that has now spread to his lungs snd kidneys) and my dad and mother-in-law who lost their battles. From this point forward, Audrey will also be in my heart as I collect pledges for cancer research and patient care.

Love to you both. I wish we’d had the chance to meet - maybe someday ❤️

Big love, Tom Boland

I was so very saddened to learn of Audrey’s passing. I was privileged to be Audrey’s French teacher in her final year of High School. I followed her post-secondary studies with great interest and I was touched by her impressive experiences and accomplishments.

Audrey was truly one of a kind; she leaves a wonderful legacy and will be greatly missed. I extend my most heartfelt sympathy to her whole family. May precious memories of dear Audrey help to comfort and support you at this gentle time.
Mes sincères condoléances.

I have such wonderful memories of Audrey from high school including her beautiful smile that lit her whole face. I can still hear her laughter too! Our trip to stay with my great grandma in Michigan so we could buy that one of kind dress (for us shorties) that no one else would have for some special occasion or another.

I was happy to connect again at our WCI reunion and so glad to hear what a wonderful life she had carved out for herself. Her warmth, kindness and laughter felt like no time had passed at all.

My sincere condolences to her family for such a tremendous loss.
Although we did not stay in touch after high school, I have wonderful memories of Audrey. Her sense of humour, her kindness, and her boundless energy always bring me a smile when I think of her. My condolences to her family and friends.

I wish I had met Audrey but reading her obituary makes me feel like her caring soul has touched me through her life story. I'm so sorry Steven that this amazing woman was taken from you way too soon but as the saying goes: "Better to have lost in love than never to have loved at all." Take care and I hope you can come to Ottawa this summer so that we can shower you with warmth and healing love.
I had the good fortune to work with Audrey in our publishing days. Not a lot of people can successfully multitask but then again, not a lot of people are like Audrey. She could be responding to an email, adding to a conversation, looking for a file, answering the phone, and laughing a joke all at the same time (often while telling someone to f*** off as well). I loved sit her her office and watch the Audrey magic happen. I loved travelling with her because no matter where we were, everyone was happy to see her. She was kind and gracious. Though small in stature, she could fill a room with her laughter and her love of friends and family. Audrey was an extraordinary person. My condolences to Steve, Aiden, all her friends and family. I am so truly sorry for the loss of this wonderful person.
As a neighbour, I introduced myself to Audrey when she first moved here and I wanted to tell her what a great job she was doing in raising young Aidan. He was a lovely, respectful boy who always offered to help even when his mother wasn't near. Their bond was remarkable and lovely to witness. She was so proud of Aidan as he has grown into the fine young adult he is today. My heartfelt sympathy to you Aidan, you have given your mother a wonderful legacy.
And Steve, how extraordinary that you came into Audrey's life at such a time to give her such great joy and love and support when she needed it most. You both made the most of her last years and from the constant smile on her face, even through the last months, you made her very happy! My thoughts are with both of you at this difficult time without her. I know your wonderful memories will help you through your grief.
