Audrey's obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the peaceful passing of Audrey Wallace, who joins her beloved husband Maynard in heaven. Audrey left this world surrounded by the love of her family and strength of her faith. She and Maynard were blessed to share their final years in the warmth of Tequesta, Florida, under the loving care of their son Greg, wife Debbie, and his family, including their beloved dogs and cats, who brought an extra measure of joy and companionship to their home. Audrey found happiness in the simple pleasures of life:she delighted in feeding the birds and squirrels and caring for her garden. Her home was filled with love, blessed by the company of friends and family who were inspired by her wisdom and strong Christian beliefs.

Born on February 22, 1936, in Bridgeport, Audrey was the daughter of the late Elliott and Marietta Graham. She leaves behind her twin sister Marcia Bond of East Haven, CT, her brother David Graham of Delaplane, Virginia, and her three sons: Bruce and wife Rose of Littleton, CO; Arthur and wife Sarah of Southbury, CT; and Gregory and wife Debbie of Tequesta, FL. She also leaves behind her adored grandchildren Andrew, Allison, Sam, Emma, Grant, and Ben. Throughout her life's journey, her enduring commitment to her faith provided a source of both peace and strength, and served as a constant guiding light.

Audrey was a gifted and passionate elementary school teacher who enjoyed teaching children how to read and write, but most importantly how to be kind to one another.

A proud UConn alum, Audrey devoted over 20 years to teaching in Stratford, Bridgeport, and Fairfield Country Day schools, becoming a beloved and preferred teacher in the eyes of both parents and students. She enjoyed rooting for Husky basketball and the Boston Red Sox. Audrey's love for basketball thrived in her youth, while playing alongside her twin sister Marcia at Roger Ludlowe HS in Fairfield, where the duo triumphantly secured a championship. In her senior year, Audrey's radiant spirit and leadership qualities stood out earning her the title of Barnum Festival Queen—a recognition she humbly embraced.

In retirement, Audrey continued to create lasting memories by planning family trips to Disney, Costa Rica, and various other destinations. She cherished moments spent with her grandchildren, sharing life lessons through engaging and enjoyable activities, often centered around the wonders of nature. Summers at Fairfield Beach brought the family together for friendly competitions, card games, and cheering on her grandchildren at sporting events, where she instilled the importance of sportsmanship, among the many lessons she shared throughout her life.

Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known Audrey. In her final days, she shared with us the heartfelt wisdom of following the path of Jesus Christ and to look for “God Winks” in life. Cherish family and friends for they are the true “God Winks”.

Audrey's legacy is one of love, faith, and kindness. She was a generous and devoted mother, grandmother, friend, and teacher. In her memory, the family will hold a private memorial service in Florida to celebrate Audrey's life. She remained extremely organized until the day she passed and she lovingly requested that those who wish to pay tribute to her consider making a donation to one of her beloved charities listed below: Hospice, Tunnels of Towers, Samaritan’s Purse and the ASPCA. These contributions will carry deep meaning, honoring the memory of Audrey Wallace.

May Audrey rest in eternal peace, reunited with her beloved husband, and may her spirit continue to inspire and guide us all.
