Audrey Williams Luton was a one of a kind lady. She taught us how to fish on the Kenia River @ The Wandering Moose Lodge & Homer, Alaska in 2011 & 2013 while staying at her beautiful place. She opened her house to us because she was booked up. What a kind soul.

We knew she had quit posting things a while back. I decided last night to figure this out since I knew her children. What a shock. She fought a long hard 7 yr battle with bone cancer. She out lived her doctors predictions. Our prayers go out to her husband & family to carrying on her legacy. Live in peace our sweet friend.

What act of kindness did I witness from Audrey? I learned from her how to die gracefully. She was ever so generous of spirit and kind and gentle to all she came in contact with in spite of the fact that she herself was facing imminent death. She placed others before her own needs. When I’m facing death, I now know how to pass my time as the countdown begins. I learned it from Audrey.

To Audrey's family: We are sorry for your loss. This is something I have read and share: When the LORD calls a loved one home, he leaves the gift of memories. Here's one: I first met Audrey and her family in 1984. I liked her from the start. She was "real" as well as friendly, hospitable, funny, generous, and kind. Audrey was a busy mother of 4, and eventually began homeschooling her older children which I admired. She loved them well and was proud of each of her children; rightly so.

We moved to Florida in 1989 where she and her family visited us over Christmas in 1990 and is where our Audrey was born and named after her. Our Audrey was to be born around Christmas but she did not arrive until 1/4. They had to leave for home before that but I had shared with her from the beginning that if I had a girl, she would be named after her. That’s how much we thought of her.

We would travel to Ohio on holidays and summers where grandparents lived and our families would be able to spend some time together.  A few years later, after Brock's death, she and her family moved to Alaska. We were able to visit in 2005 @ A Wandering Moose over the 4th of July holiday. What a wonderful location on the Kenai river and business she started and ran for several years. I didn't see her again until 2016 at her mother's house in Florida, along with her sisters, but we kept in touch over the years. By then, all of our children were grown and now we were grandparents. How time flew but we could always start where we left off.

The last we texted, she shared that this past Christmas would be her last. “God has been so good to me”, she typed. She was given 3-5 years when diagnosed with cancer but made it 7.

We were so happy she and Mike found each other while doing one of their things; fishing. There are no coincidences in God. We believe that was a "divine" appointment. When they got married, we thought it wonderful for them! We wanted the best for them and happiness. Even though they had a few short years together, they fit in a lot of living. This reminded me of The Dash on Brock's virtual memorial.

So many good memories!  Driving down the Glenn Highway rocking’ out to “It’s All About That Bass” by Meghan Trainor; sitting at her wooden coffee table painting each other’s nails; creating beautifully dyed silk scarves at a ladies night out; painting orcas on a small canvas; watching her create her stained glass creations; picking up a skinny latte and meeting her at her house with the drink; the package of Prince William Sound shrimp she gifted me with; her various dogs that have come and gone since I knew her (especially dear sweet Zeus); buying Apple Watches together; freezing our tushes off at her outdoor fire pit while sipping a drink; sharing my starter with her; and especially the first time we met!  She was the First Lady to join my meetup group, “The Lunch Bunch”.  The thoughts just flood my memories!  Good memories…all!  My heart is broken.  But I have this one ray of sunshine and that’s knowing that we will be together again when my time comes to an end or when Jesus returns for all of us.  In this I have eternal hope.  Audrey…you are a special person. Beautiful, sweet, gentle, kind…this world is just not the same with you gone.  Rest in peace my dear.

Aunt Audrey,

You were always such a kind soul. I remember when I was around 5 or 6 and I touched a cactus at your house in Marietta. You weren't angry! You patiently pulled out the needles and soaked my hands. You fed me lucky charms because I couldn't eat them myself (lol). You had a knack for forgiveness.

I hope you have found peace where there is no pain and only joy. I am glad I was named after someone so wonderful!! I am, as we all are (the Thiele's) better for knowing you. Someone who was strong, kind, brave, and loving!

My condolences to the cousins, Audrey's husband, and family in Alaska. Love you guys and Aunt Audrey ❤️
