Audrey's obituary

Audrey Dorene Hoy was born on September 6, 1933 in Holtville, California, the daughter of Howard Linn Hoy and Frieda Anne Kolkhorst. Her siblings were an older half-sister Kathryn Hoy Forbes, older sister Beverly Diane Hoy Hamley, and younger brother Howard Lowell Hoy. She graduated from Paso Robles Union High School, Paso Robles, CA on June 6, 1952.

She graduated from San Jose State College (now San Jose State University) in San Jose, CA, on June 8, 1956 with a BA in Education. She taught first grade at Linda Vista Elementary School in San Jose, CA. She married Lt Charles Stanley Bailey, USAF, at Belmont Heights United Methodist Church, Long Beach, CA on June 22, 1957.

She enjoyed the role of wife and mother, and had many hobbies: canning, sewing, oil painting, hat making, gardening, singing, and playing the piano and organ. A life-long Methodist, she volunteered in many ways: providing altar flowers, singing in the church choir, and writing a history of Saint Andrew United Methodist Church, Santa Maria, CA.

She was predeceased by her parents Howard Hoy and Frieda Kolkhorst, her husband Charles Stanley Bailey, and sisters Kathryn and Beverly. She is survived by her brother Howard (Nancy Earl) of St Louis Park, MN, her children: Catherine Suzanne Bailey of Mission Viejo, CA, Charles Steven Bailey (Imelda Ochoa Fuentes) of Thousand Oaks, CA, Craig Stanley Bailey and Curtis Stewart Bailey of Santa Maria, CA, and her grandchildren: Lt Marina Lynn Brooks USN (Capt William Theodore Brooks USAF) of Falls Church, VA, Steven Ramon Bailey and Nicole Marie Bailey of Thousand Oaks, CA.

She died peacefully and painlessly on November 22, 2025 at the age of 92 in her home in , CA with family at her side. Burial was on December 1, 2025 at Wasco Memorial Cemetery, Wasco, CA with her beloved husband of 55 years. A private memorial service was held at Saint Andrew United Methodist Church on January 11, 2026.
