Ashley's obituary
We regretfully announce the passing of Ashley Smelser, a loving daughter and sister. On May 18, 2025, the world lost a kind and charismatic soul. Born on January 24, 1991, she made a significant impact throughout her brief yet meaningful 34 years of life.
Ashley was a radiant woman, brimming with compassion and a magnetic charm. Known for her spit-fire personality and empathetic nature, she had a unique ability to light up any room she stepped into. She believed that 'tomorrow is never promised,' a mantra she lived by, making the most of every moment.
Her greatest accomplishment, as she often noted, was giving life to her two beautiful daughters, Hailee and Lainee Young, who survive her.
She is survived by her parents, Alice Hunt and William Smelser, her step-father David Hunt, her younger sister Amber Kaboos and brother-in-law, Nathon Kaboos. Ashley is also survived by her grandparents Roger and Lois Swierk, along with many cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. She rejoices in the heavenly reunion with her beloved grandmother, Mary Simon, who predeceased her.
Ashley had a profound appreciation for the arts. Her favorite song was Martina McBride's 'Concrete Angel,' which touched her deeply. She had a passion for tattooing, seeing it as an art form. A fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, she also enjoyed drawing and writing poems in her leisure time, activities that allowed her to express her creative spirit and deep thoughts.
The void left by Ashley's passing is immeasurable. But we find comfort in the knowledge that she is free of pain and finally at peace. Her radiant spirit and the profound lessons she imparted will continue to inspire those who knew her. We mourn her loss, yet celebrate her life filled with empathy, compassion, and love.
