ARVID RONALD SVENDSEN
Arvid was born September 24, 1919 to Martine and Kristian
Svendsen, immigrants of Norway. The oldest of five children, his siblings were Catherine, Marie, Robert and Edward. Arvid grew up in the Sunset Hill area, attended Ballard High School and fished with his father each summer.
During World War II, Arvid served in the Navy on the U.S.S.
Missouri and was on board the ship when peace was struck on September 2, 1945. Following the war, Arvid attended navigation school and eventually acquired his own boat, "The Christian S."
Arvid married Inger and together they raised three boys, Tommy, Chris and Arvid, Jr. They have three grandchildren, Sarah, Christopher Gustav and Kelsey Colleen. Arvid was preceded in death by his sister, Catherine, his brother, Robert, and his son, Tommy.
Arvid had many friends in Ballard and in the fishing fleet. He will be deeply missed by all.
