Artiek's obituary

Artiek Smith was born April 29, 1929 in Memphis, TN and was adopted into the beautiful family Mr. and Mrs. Jessie and Addie Smith.

He was a proud graduate of Douglass High School in Memphis and the American Academy of Commercial Art institute in Chicago. He also studied at the Scottsdale Artist School in Scottsdale, Arizona.

As a talented artist, Mr. Smith became an accomplished painter/illustrator, cartoonist/watercolorist, muralist and sign painter and worked for over 70 years doing what he was most passionate about, art. In addition to Artiek’s multi-talents, he continued to teach art classes both private and public. He has exhibited both locally and internationally. Included in his many exhibits are: The National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, the Rotunda in Washington, DC, and the Salon Des Nations in Paris, France.

Most of all, Mr. Smith loved God, serving in his church. and spending time with his family and friends. He was an amazing dad, grandad, great-grandad and friend.
