Arthur's obituary

ARTHUR “ARRADOR” VANSICKLE, age 92, of
Sacramento, Ca left this earth on Friday, April 2, 2021. He was born in Strandquist Minn., 11/20/1928 to Arthur and Della Vansickle. He attended several one-room schoolhouses in Marshall, then Warren High School, with many of his cousins. It was at this age that he saw his birth certificate for the first time and realized his given name was Arthur, not Arrador, a name he was not fond of. He called it one of the happiest moments of his life. He graduated in 1946, then attended Gustavus Adolphus College which he graduated in 1950. This was followed by a stint with the army, then a move to Minneapolis where he met the love of his life, Nancy Gustafson, from Wadena, Minn. He and Nancy always felt they were really lucky to have found each other. He grew up in the church where his mother was the organist for 40 years and was always involved with his church wherever he lived. He enjoyed a successful career with Honeywell until his retirement, when he moved to Calif. and began pursuing a second love of his, golf. Art and Nancy traveled around the world making friends wherever they went and continued these friendships for many years. He always enjoyed sports and never lost his interest in the Vikings and Gophers. He had a wonderfully dry sense of humor, and many times spoke about the good life he had. He was easy-going, kind and generous, and always supportive of family and friends. He enjoyed crosswords, and writing poetry. He was quite musical and would sit at the piano many an evening. He loved spending time with his children, and we enjoyed it just as much.
Art is survived by sons Craig and Bruce, and daughters Nina, Paige, and Patti (Ted Guzman), and grandchildren Renata Guzman Washa (Alex Washa), Matthew Guzman, and sister Kathie (Pat Carr). He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Nancy, and his sister Beverly. Art will be interred at the Warren Cemetery alongside his wife. Since this is an awkward time and we are not allowed to congregate yet, we have established a website where you may leave comments and look at photos: https://everloved.com/life-of… Donations may be made in his honor to Warren-Alvarado-Oslo High School.

My life was like a movie
No epics in my life
my favorite leading lady
for 58 years, my wife
My life was like a movie
at best was rated B
didn't do much at the box office
no academy awards for me
my life was like a movie
shot in black and white
with carefully censored subtitles
and no nudity in sight
My life was like a movie
except there is no news
about the coming attractions
like we see in most previews
My life was like a movie
and I just have a hunch
if we made a family series
it would be like the Brady Bunch
My life was like a movie
some fleeting scenes, some that last
while I'd lost my leading lady
I still had a supporting cast.
