Arthur Harris, age 96, died peacefully on August 8, 2025, in Boynton Beach, Florida. He was born to parents who were Furriers and lived his early childhood years in Baldwin, New York.
The family later relocated to Hempstead, New York. Once married, he planted his family in East Meadow, Long Island, until retirement relocated him to South Florida.
He excelled in everything he undertook in life, including serving in the Army and working as a CPA for more than 40 years. He became a 32 nd Degree Freemason and Shriner later in life. He was an avid boater who, for years, was a member of the Power Squadron and served as Commodore of his Yacht Club, teaching boating safety to the next generation. Later in life, he indulged in golf and coin collecting, especially unique pennies; he loved to play cards and travel; and, in his retirement years, he volunteered as a driver for Shriners’ Children’s Hospital in Tampa, Florida.
He was known for his intelligence and sense of humor as well as his dedication to his family and friends. Always known to share a good joke, Arthur remained active and engaged throughout his later years.
Arthur was preceded in death by his first wife, Helene Harris (Greenberger). He is survived by Lucille Harris, his current wife of 29 years; his daughter, Sandra Pelton (Spouse-Paul); and his son, Mark Harris (Spouse-Shannon) of Payson, Utah; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In lieu of food or flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Arthur Harris Memorial fund to be used for Perpetual Yahrziet dedication, with remaining funds benefiting the Shriners’ Children Hospital in his name.
Interment will take place on August 13, 2025, at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens in Boynton Beach, FL.
