Beloved father, grandfather, and best friend, Arthur Lee Joseph Ely, 74 years old of Norfolk was found deceased in his residence on January 8, 2022 of natural causes.
Arthur is survived by his daughter Jennifer Ely, his granddaughter Sadiya Cuffee, and his grandson Jeremiah Ely-White.
Arthur was born in Brooklyn, New York on September 22 to Harry Ely and Marie Viggiano, both deceased. He grew up in Brooklyn and then joined the United States Navy where he relocated to Virginia. He then married and had one child who was one of the most important parts of his life.
Arthur was a devoted father and grandfather who loved spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed being on his own and lived independently. He was extremely musically inclined and LOVED to sing the blues and played various musical instruments. He was a very special man and will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all that knew him. We are so saddened to say that the thrill is gone but will be forever remembered in our hearts. Arthur would ask that you not grieve but that you celebrate his life. The family expresses their deepest thanks for all donations received.
JT Fisher Funeral home is handling the cremation services and his ashes will be placed at a special location in his honor.
