On Tuesday, August 6, 2019 Arthur DePalma, age 81, of McHenry, IL, passed away peacefully in hospice care surrounded by his immediate family. Arthur was born October 10, 1937 in Chicago, IL to Arthur R. DePalma and Edith (Ponzi) DePalma. He attended Our Lady of Lourdes grammar school and graduated from St. Ignatius Prep on the West Side of Chicago. In October of 1964, he was united in marriage to Phyllis J. DePalma (Urbanski), who preceded him in death. They first resided in Chicago until they moved to North Riverside and later on Algonquin. Arthur worked in computer technology from the industry’s early beginnings and spent many years working for Union Special, first in Chicago and then in Huntley. In his later years, he helped his son, Robert, run a successful wine store in the northwest suburbs. Arthur retired and moved to Sun City, Huntley in 2003. After his wife, Phyllis’ sudden passing in 2013 Arthur moved to Heritage Woods of McHenry. He very much enjoyed his life there and made many friends among the other residents. Arthur was a lifelong sports enthusiast and spent many years as a referee for various sporting organizations. He was a die-hard Cubs fan and one of his favorite memories was “finally seeing the Cubs win a World Series.” He is survived by son, Robert DePalma (Peggy Pirovano) of Cary; daughters Diane DePalma of Pittsburgh, PA and Carolyn DePalma of New Orleans, LA; brother Jerome DePalma (Roseanne) of Elko, NV; and brother-in-law George Urbanski of Kansas City, MO. Arthur also had several nieces and even more grand nieces and nephews. Arthur's family plans to hold a memorial at a later date.
