Arthur's obituary

Arthur Vincent Casey was far too young when he passed on June 14, 2019. He was born on December 2, 1976. The twelfth of thirteen children born to Phillip and Rosemarie (née Basile), Arthur had to work hard to distinguish himself amongst his raucous, Irish-Italian siblings. As a boy, he was known for his long, rambling jokes whose punchlines were less amusing than was his exuberance in telling them. When given the opportunity to name the family’s new puppy, a German Shepard, Arthur chose the fear-inducing name “Cookie face.” Cookie never forgave him for the indignity, and would snarl at his mere scent for the rest of her days. He was a sensitive boy, who found himself deeply upset one day when he saw that his bread was broken.

Arthur grew into a quiet, unassuming man whose curiosity provided a better education than schools ever could. His interest in computers and technology developed into an ability to build, repair, and upgrade computers for himself and others, and to program increasingly sophisticated software that he would occasionally demonstrate on social media. Despite his physical resemblance to the rest of his family, Arthur towered over everyone else, reaching a height of 6’3”.

He faced life’s challenges in his own way, and we pray he has the comfort and peace he sought but rarely found.

Arthur was preceded in death by his mother, father, and sister Frances. He is survived by his brothers Phillip, Jr., Andrew, Joseph, Jonathan, and John Paul; his sisters, Angela Berdecia, Eugenia Casey, Maryann Sande, Kristie Ramos, Lelia Brennan, and Rosemarie Hayward; and countless nieces and nephews.
