Arturo (Art)'s obituary
Art Anthony Flemate
July 21, 1948 – May 1, 2025
Some people leave behind echoes that never fade—because they lived fully, always present for others. Arturo Anthony Flemate was one of those people.
Born in San Jose, California, in 1948, and passing on May 1, 2025, Arturo’s life spanned 76 years—but his impact will last far longer. A true craftsman, he spent his working years as a master shoe repairman and artist, mending what was worn and bringing beauty back into everyday things.
But his real work—the work that mattered most—was loving people. Arturo was a man who gave without hesitation, listened without judgment, and showed up without being asked. He believed in putting others first. His family never had to wonder if they were loved—they felt it in everything he did.
He is survived by his wife Yvonne, son Art, daughter Emiliana and her husband Matt, grandchildren Gio and his wife Kiana, Xavier, and Zayden, and great-grandchildren Ezra, Eva, and Esa. His memory is carried on by siblings Alex, Julia, Cece, Rita, William, Patsy, and Inez. He is reunited with his beloved siblings Ralph, George, and Betty.
Arturo believed this world could be better—if we just looked out for each other more. That belief guided his life. And it’s what he leaves behind in the hearts of those who knew him.
“Give what you can, love without condition, and leave the world softer than you found it.”
In his memory, please do something kind for someone today. Then do it again tomorrow.
