Arron's obituary

Arron Ray Sterling, 56, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021. He was born in Riverside, CA on May 7, 1965. Arron graduated from Hale R-1 High School in Hale, Missouri.

Arron served in the United States Navy for 28 years, joining just 2 months after graduating high school. He retired in 2011 as a Lt. Commander. He served all over the country, including Florida, Virginia, Maine, Hawaii, California and Washington. After his military service, he began working as a government contractor, most recently as a LCS Combat Systems Project Engineer at NS Mayport.

He had a passion for Harleys, watching racing, flying and music- especially karaoke and DJing. He never met a stranger and was always lending a hand to help someone in need. He was a member of the American Legion Post 531 and enjoyed attending the annual Reading Motorcycle Club event. He was a beloved father, stepfather, grandfather, brother, uncle, shipmate, friend and mentor to many.

Arron was preceded in death by his stepfather, Gary Minnis. He is survived by his mother, Linda Willis of Dunnellon, FL; son, Christopher Arron Sterling (Jessica) of Jacksonville, FL; daughter, Megan Sterling Archie (Brenden) of Kansas City, MO; three grandchildren, Amelia Joy Archie, Knox Edward Sterling and Elijah Shaw Archie; life partner, Maria Bithell of Jacksonville, FL; sisters, Rhonda K. Morton (Tim) of Bloomfield, IA and Wanda Higgins (Paul) of Frisco, TX; brother, Loren Minnis (Olga) of Gravois Mills, MO, several nieces and nephews, and his beloved puppies, Captain & Sprite.

Services will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Hoffmeister South County Chapel-1515 Lemay Ferry Rd, St. Louis, MO 63125. The family will receive visitors starting at 11am. Funeral services will begin at 12:30pm. Directly following the service, Arron will be laid to rest with full honors at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life that evening; details are forthcoming and will be announced at the funeral and online by the family. Services are under the direction of Hoffmeister South County Chapel in St. Louis, MO.
