Arnold's obituary
Arnold, 75, passed away peacefully, surrounded by friends and family at his Simpsonville, SC home on April 11, 2024, after a long illness due to exposure to Agent Orange while serving his country. Arnold was a decorated veteran who served in the Vietnam War. He spent a number of years in the Marines and received a Purple Heart Medal after being wounded in combat.
Arnold was born on August 29,1948 in Syracuse, New York. He moved to Greenville South Carolina in mid 1990s. He met his wife Virginia while on vacation at Myrtle Beach. They fell in love and were soon married within a few years. Arnold and Virginia chose to settle in the town of Simpsonville, SC. Arnold was a skilled tradesman and while living in Simpsonville became a Master Plumber. When he wasn’t working, Arnold had a passion for oldies and family. Arnold was a member of St Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. He was a courageous and humble Christian man. He was loving, generous, and displayed an amazing concern for others. He never complained despite all he had to endured. He was very special to all whose lives were touched by him. Words cannot describe how greatly he will be missed.
Arnold was predeceased by his parents Leon and Eileen Ryder and his sister Teresa Gillette. He is survived by Virginia Ryder, Lisa Ryder, Zierra Bowers, and Levi Ryder; stepchildren, Scott, Derek, Dustin and Monica; grandchildren, John-boy, Kaylee and Erin.
He is also survived by his siblings, Ashley, James, Kathleen, Gerald, Julie, Kenneth, Patricia, Eileen, Michael and Paul and by several nieces and nephews.
The family requests that flowers be sent to 313 N Main St. Simpsonville, SC 29681 By Tuesday April 16th. There will be a funeral service held at 1p.m on Wednesday, April 17th at Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Anderson SC. Red, white & blue flowers are greatly appreciated.
