Arlene's obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Arlene Rucker, who ascended into eternal rest on September 16, 2025. Born on January 21, 1932, Arlene was a beacon of strength and inspiration throughout her fulfilling and well-lived life. She is lovingly survived by her children, Brenda Smith, Kat Rucker, and Charles Rucker.
Arlene was predeceased by her beloved husband, Charles Rucker Sr., with whom she shared many wonderful years. Arlene’s strength, perseverance, and faith-driven spirit truly epitomized the strong foundation of her family.
Arlene had an illustrious career at the Post Office, from where she retired in 1992. Her work was a testament to her strong work ethic and dedication. Yet, it was her contributions and presence at Greater Faith Missionary Baptist Church that truly defined her life's passions.
Her love for Aretha Franklin resonated in the harmonic rhythms that filled her home. She relished her downtime watching her favorite TV show, Matlock, while enjoying a cold Coca Cola and indulging in her favorite game, Spades. In her free time, she loved gardening, a hobby that reflected her love for nature and the vibrant color yellow.
Arlene was a woman of profound wisdom and stern demeanor, yet her heart overflowed with love for her family and loved ones. She believed in lending one hand, not two, a life lesson that truly encapsulates her altruistic nature.
Among her many accomplishments, Arlene was the proud builder of her house, a task she took up from the ground up. It was a true reflection of her tenacity and willpower.
A funeral service to celebrate Arlene’s life was held on September 20, 2025, at 6:00 PM at Greater Faith Missionary Baptist Church. Her life, love, and legacy will forever remain in our hearts, serving as a beacon for future generations.
