Arlene's obituary
Arlene was born on January 18, 1935, in Greaney, MN, to Frank and Angie (Nosie) Novak. She attended Orr High School and graduated from Hibbing High School in Minnesota. Arlene attended Hibbing Community College.
She married Edward Sikich in 1954 at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing, MN, and they were married for 20 years.
She lived in Port Huron, MI, for a couple of years and then moved to California, where she resided and raised her family. She worked for the Defense Contract Audit Agency, Boeing, in Anaheim from 1978-2005.
Her family was everything to her. She balanced being a single mother and provider while raising her children with grace. As a family, they enjoyed going to Disneyland, Big Bear, Colorado river, and annual summer road trips to Minnesota to visit her sister Jeanne and family. She enjoyed her retirement. She loved to travel, enjoyed eating out, and never said “no” to a hamburger! She traveled to the Virgin Islands, snorkeled in Belize, Mother/daughter trips to Mexico, and trips to Colorado to visit her son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren, but more than anything, she loved being at her home. She belonged to book and card clubs. Bridge was her favorite card game, but she also liked a good game of Smear. She joined the Women’s Civic Club of Garden Grove and was Friendship chairman for years. Arlene had many dear friends and looked forward to her card-playing nights!
Arlene is survived by her children Danny Sikich and Lisa Dietzel, Mitch and Frances Sikich, Andrea and Drew Berwanger, Paul and Mel Sikich by her grandchildren Ryan, Tabitha, and Brittany, by her sister Jeanne Holmstrom, nieces and nephew Deb, Jack, and Diane all of MN and by her beloved pets Tiger and Kory.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Angie Novak. Nephew Ned C. Holmstrom. Many in-laws, outlaws (lol), and cousins. Also, her beloved pets, Sequoia l and ll, Biff, Tuptim, Tasha, and Kemper.
Arlene was an awesome mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Sadly, she will be missed by all she touched during her lifetime, especially her children, grandchildren, big sister, and Minnesota family.
