Apostle Johnny's obituary
With profound sorrow and deep gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Apostle Johnny Earl Drumgole, Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, pastor, mentor, and community leader, who entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 27, 2026, at the age of 75.
Apostle Johnny was a towering pillar of faith and a transformative force throughout Northeast Louisiana. As the long-time Senior Pastor and co-founder of Liberty Christian Center in Monroe, Louisiana, he faithfully shepherded the ministry for over 40 years, building it into one of the region’s most impactful and influential churches. Under his visionary leadership, Liberty Christian Center became a beacon of hope, healing, and spiritual growth, marked by miraculous expansion and the acquisition of its facilities completely debt-free — a testament to his unwavering faith and godly stewardship.
Born and raised in Monroe, Louisiana, Dr. Drumgole remained deeply devoted to the city that shaped him. A proud 1969 graduate of Carroll High School, he was known as a gifted athlete and star running back whose excellence on the field reflected the discipline and determination that would define his life.
Before answering the full call to ministry, Dr. Drumgole served with distinction at General Motors. In 1982, he stepped fully into his divine assignment, dedicating his life to preaching the Gospel, serving God’s people, and transforming lives. Affectionately known as a “pastor to pastors,” he was revered not only for his powerful preaching and prophetic insight, but also for his humility, wisdom, and heart for leadership development.
His legacy extended far beyond the pulpit. Dr. Drumgole was a passionate advocate for education and youth empowerment. He founded Excelsior Christian School and tirelessly mentored young men and women, encouraging them to pursue higher education, purpose, and excellence in every area of life. His civic service touched countless lives through his leadership and support of organizations including the Northeast Louisiana Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity, and various regional ministerial alliances.
To know Dr. Drumgole was to encounter vision, strength, compassion, and unwavering faith. His life’s work is etched into the hearts of those he pastored, mentored, and inspired, as well as in the institutions and ministries he helped build.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory his devoted wife and faithful partner in ministry, Dr. Pamela Cage-Drumgole; his beloved children, grandchildren, extended family, church family, and a community forever changed by his life and legacy.
Though he has transitioned from labor to reward, the impact of Dr. Johnny Earl Drumgole, Sr. will continue for generations to come.
“Well done, thou good and faithful servant… enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.”
