Background
The Shuggie Shines on Memorial Scholarship at Chabot college has been such a special way to memorialize the tragic loss and find some meaning in being left behind. She was always looking to be bigger than herself and giving back was something she wanted to spend her life doing. As a recent graduate from the EMT program this scholarship will now help future first responders.
Over the past two years two scholarships have been awarded as follows:
2021 – to an EMT student who’s mother was diagnosed with a terminal illness resulting in her taking an early retirement from her RN position at Stanford. The student had to drop out of the program due to financial burden. The scholarship aided him to return to the program and fund all tuition fees and books for the entire EMT program. He is now working as a EMT in the Bay area with the hopes to go to X-ray school.
2022 – to a newly graduated EMT who has hopes of becoming a paramedic in the Bay Area. The scholarship will cover his tuition fees for the first year of paramedic school.
Any contributions would be greatly appreciated and go directly to the scholarship.
