Anthony's obituary

Anthony John Skrzypek, a beloved father, son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026, in Tampa, Florida, at the age of 59. Born on February 14, 1966, in Niagara Falls, New York, Tony cared for everyone he encountered throughout his life.

Tony was the cherished elder son of Donald and Theresa Skrzypek. He was a proud member of the Skrzypek family, which always came first in his heart. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lecia Skrzypek, his parents, Don and Terry; his children, Ryan and Haley, and his loving brother, Jeff Skrzypek. Caring for his family was Tony’s greatest treasure, and he dedicated his life to making sure they lived joyful and independent lives. Those joyful lives extend to his god-mother; Kris Wierzbicki, and his beloved cousins, aunts, and uncles from Florida to Niagara Falls, NY. He created lasting memories with them, through family gatherings, fishing trips, and (most importantly) fantastic cooking.

Tony was committed to a lifelong culinary career driven by his passion for cooking and feeding others. His talent in the kitchen led him to local favorite spots like The Oyster Shell, The Prawnbroker, and the Lazy Flamingo. The Lazy Flamingo was where his heart lived and where he shared his love for food with his friends. His cooking reflected his nurturing spirit and his desire to bring people together.

Tony enjoyed many interests. Besides cooking, he was an avid fisherman, hunter, and Buffalo Bills fan. Time off was for fishing with his best friend and brother, Jeff. He always looked forward to a warm day on the Gulf. Hunting was just as exciting. Bagging 12 foot gators in the Everglades sounds more like a tall tale but not with Tony. As a Bill’s fan Tony was familiar with disappointment but stayed a true fan. Game nights were often spent with his parents, making it a family affair. Outside of work, food was a daily hobby. It was not uncommon to send steak, prime rib, and lobster home to his wife and kids on a random weekday. Free time for Tony truly was meant to be shared.

As we say goodbye to Anthony John Skrzypek, we celebrate his life – a life lived fully, with love as its foundation. You will be missed deeply, Tony, but your spirit will continue to shine brightly in the lives you touched. A celebration of his life will be held at the Lazy Flamingo April 26, 2026 from 12:00 pm till 3:00 pm. Tony never liked the cold. We waited for warmer weather.
