Brother Anthony, my friend, my brother in Christ, and my mentor. Even saying these words doesn’t seem to fully capture the profound impact that Brother Anthony had on my life. I first met him in 1989 when I was only 19 years old. Through the years I witnessed his unwavering zeal for the things of God. He was a man who dedicated his entire life to serving the Lord, the living embodiment of a true Christian. Even in his hardest trials, he always reflected Christ.
His faith was like that described in Hebrews 11—so much so that I believe a verse could be written about him. Perhaps it would say:
“By faith Brother Anthony Robertson withstood the harder trials of the Third Phase and held onto the promise for his adoption and the promise of his family. He never wavered in his faith and held steadfast to his Title Deed. By faith he walked with the Lord, and he pleased the Lord.”
Brother Anthony had a special way of saying the right words at the right time. His wisdom came from a life steeped in prayer and a close walk with God. I remember once calling to check on him, hoping to encourage him. Instead, our conversation turned into over an hour of him encouraging me. He spoke about my boys with such love and insight that, after the call, I felt strengthened and uplifted. This is just one of the many memories I will treasure.
He also had a quick wit and a sense of humor that were unforgettable. Brother Anthony had a way of connecting with people of all ages. I recall him teasing a younger brother once, saying, “You still have Similac behind the ears.” It was moments like these that showed his sharp mind and ability to connect and encourage with love, always pointing others back to Christ.
Every area of his life was a testament to the power of a surrendered heart. His influence on me has been immeasurable. Brother Anthony showed me what it means to live a life completely dedicated to God. He was more than a mentor—he was an example of true faithfulness and love.
Though he is no longer with us in the flesh, the impact of his life on all who knew him is evident. His unwavering faith in the promises of God and steadfast reliance on Him in every trial were extraordinary. I am forever grateful for the time God allowed me to have with Brother Anthony, a man whose faith will continue to inspire and challenge me daily.
Many people often say they would have loved to witness the great acts of faith in the Bible—like David defeating Goliath or Joshua marching around Jericho. While those were mighty men of God, I count myself truly blessed to have personally witnessed the faith of a man whose trust in the Lord, I dare say, surpassed even theirs— a true mighty man of God, a warrior of the faith in our age Brother Anthony Robertson.
Brother Anthony, I will see you on that great resurrection morning.
With heartfelt gratitude and love,
