Anthony's obituary

Anthony Jermaine Pryor went to his final call on January 3, 2021. He was born on February 27, 1980 to Anthony W. and Mary Pryor. Anthony graduated from Del Valle High School in 1998 and resided in the Austin area most of his life.

Anthony was united in marriage to Julie Walthall on May 29, 2010 in League City, Texas on a voyage of a lifetime. Together they have one son, Anson.

Anthony had a passion for people and devoted his life to serving and protecting. At the age of 20, he graduated from the first Travis County Fire Control Fire Academy and started his professional career at Travis County Fire Control. Anthony was honored to be a part of the brotherhood and stand next to the men and women in the fire service. He then went on to serve as Lieutenant for the Manor and Leander Fire Departments. Before leaving Leander in 2013, Anthony transitioned in to the area of Fire Inspector/Investigator and continued this endeavor with the City of Victoria Fire Department. During this time, Anthony made it his mission to become a Peace Officer. He became a Deputy Chief with the Fort Bend County Fire Marshal’s Office in 2014.

After many long hours and dedication, in April 2015, Anthony proudly completed the Police Course at San Antonio College. Being an avid learner, Anthony then graduated with his Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management from West Texas A&M in 2017. He often spoke on the importance of personal growth and higher education in the fire service, so this accomplishment was very important to him. Anthony had a calling to return to the Leander Fire Department for a short stint before becoming the City of Richmond’s Emergency Management Coordinator in July 2019. Anthony was always ready to share his knowledge and lend a helping hand. He used his leadership and problem-solving skills to serve his community.

Anthony loved his family dearly and was devoted to them. He enjoyed playing video games with Anson, teaching him how to build Legos and shoot baskets. Anthony and Julie had a passion for traveling and took trips to many different destinations around the world. Anthony’s storytelling and sense of humor would have your eyes watering and sides hurting. He was always available to provide a listening ear and solid advice. NFL Sunday was his favorite time of the week. He loved competing against his family and friends in Fantasy Football.

Anthony is survived by his wife Julie, son Anson, father Anthony W. Pryor and mother Mary Pryor, brother Marcus Pryor, sister in law LaToya and nieces Gabriella, Abigail and Aubrey, grandmother Ellen Pryor, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws and extended family that loved him dearly. Anthony is preceded in death by his grandparents Harry Lee Pryor Jr., James Clarence Sr. and Eula Clarence.

Due to the ongoing and unprecedented pandemic, the family is conducting a limited person memorial service. To view the service online, go to https://www.facebook.com/sue.….
