It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Anthony "Jr" Pires Jr, a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend. Affectionately known as Jr, but preferring Anthony, he was born on August 24, 2002, and departed from this world far too soon on February 23, 2024.

Anthony leaves behind his loving mother, Denise Pires, and step-father, Mike Timmons. His larger than life personality resonated through their family which includes his caring grandmother, Sharon Bordoni, his sisters, Deanna (Jared) Shinkle, Amber Ortega, Makana Pires, and his brothers, Carlos (Mari) Herrera, Rudy Ortega Jr, and Steven Ortega. Anthony was also a cherished nephew to Debbie (Jimmy) Florence, Kandy Pires, Stephanie (Kevin) Sant, Joe (Tami) Pires, and Louis Christensen. His brother-in-law, Joshua Dunbarr, and his beloved nieces, Serenity, Harmony, Madison, Itzy, and Maci Dunbarr, and his nephew, Ethen Herrera, will remember their uncle with love and admiration. He is predeceased by his father, Anthony Pires Sr, and his grandparents, Joseph and Ruth Pires.

Anthony had a knack for making connections, his love for conversation evident in every interaction. He was a loyal fan of the Raiders and the A's, and enjoyed playing baseball and Xbox. A glimpse into his personality is found in his love for the color blue, his preference for pasta, tacos, hamburgers and hot sauce, and his fondness for Diet Coke. Yet, behind these simple likes and interests lived a deeper, extraordinary spirit. Anthony was a very giving and caring person. His generosity of spirit and warmth will continue to inspire those who knew him.

Anthony's life will be celebrated on March 16, 2024, at 8:00 PM at The Moose - Dixon Lodge 1120. As we gather to remember Anthony, we will honour his legacy, a young man who touched many lives, and carry forward his kindness and warmth. His departure leaves a void that will never be filled, and he will be profoundly missed. Our hearts are heavy, but we find solace in knowing that his spirit lives on in each one of us touched by his loving energy.
