Tony's obituary
Besides his wife and children, Tony is survived by his brother Peter and wife Barbara; his sister Linda Golini and husband Bill; his brother-in-law Thomas Spaziano and wife Peggy; his grandchildren Hannah and husband Matthew, Rachel, Kendra, Corinne, Caroline, and Cole in addition to many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.
Growing up on Homestead Avenue in Cranston, he was a graduate of Cranston High School East and was a member of the RI Air Force National Guard. Tony graduated from the RI School of Radio & Electronics and completed courses in sales & marketing at Providence College. Tony’s early career was in radio & television repair and technical writing for companies including Raytheon, Union Carbide, and Waters Associates. He was also owner and operator of Homestead Landscaping & Construction, a company founded by his father in the late 1950’s. For many years, Tony and his father, along with the help of family members, operated Santa’s Tree Land, the largest fresh-cut retail Christmas tree operation in RI. In 1981, with Carol at his side, Tony embarked on a 20-year career in printing and advertising, becoming a Sir Speedy Printing franchisee in Warwick, RI. For the remainder of his life, Tony continued working in the field of sales, as he enjoyed using his charismatic and fun-loving personality to connect with others. He became a trusted resource in the sale of residential real estate and luxury automobiles, Audi being Tony’s hands down favorite.
Tony was a family man. He was always there with his positive attitude, eager to encourage and help others. He spent time as a Little League coach for his sons and later was a regular spectator at his grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. In recent years, Tony enjoyed golfing with Carol and their many friends in the West Palm Beach area. He was an avid Red Sox, Patriots, and PC Basketball fan, who also loved dogs and spending time outside gardening and planting flowers.
From a very young age, Tony had a passion for music and singing. Over the years, Tony performed with a number of bands, for weddings, at nightclubs, and with friends & family at parties and karaoke bars. He loved performing and was known to sing love songs better than the original artists. At the time of his passing, he was re-recording several songs with plans to compile his favorites for a new CD.
A celebration of Tony’s life will be scheduled at a later date in his original hometown of Cranston, RI. Donations can be made in Tony’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital of Memphis, TN (https//www.stjude.org), a charity that he and Carol always found to be special. Tony will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
