I met Anthony in Hight School. He loved basketball and he thought he was the best ever. He was not bad at it. In our 1981 annual he signed with the picture of his jump shot. Anthony was an approachable guy as far as I'm concerned. My impressions never changed we communicated two months before his transition home
Very sorry for your loss. May God grant Tony eternal rest.
My deepest condolences and prayers to his family. I pray peace and strength to his beautiful girls that he absolutely loved and adored. I met Tony when he was at NW and I was at Grambling. He was hilarious and life of the party. He never met a stranger and was kind and helpful whenever he was around. Rest Well my friend  You will be missed!

My deepest condolences to you and your family. I spoke with my departed brother months ago and enjoyed our talk. Be strong and put God First.

I had the privilege of managing Money and the group in the pic. Money was a member of the group in the picture attached named Diverse and diverse they were. Money was the oldest member of the group. He was teased often about that. His demeanor showed his age often. Money was loved and revered by all he encountered. Money will truly be missed. Rest In Power my brother. — with Michael Robinson, Patrick Marshall, Jamail Franklin, Courtney Bell and Anthony “Money” Manning

Manning Family,

I hope this message finds you surrounded by loved ones during this difficult time. I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of my dear friend, Anthony, also known as Pretty Tony and Maniac. Please accept my heartfelt condolences and know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Growing up together in Red Springs, North Carolina, and spending some time in Brooklyn, New York, Anthony and I shared countless memories and formed an unbreakable bond. He had a charm about him that captivated everyone he met, especially the ladies, earning him the nickname Pretty Tony. I can still envision him, impeccably dressed, with his stylish waves and clean sneakers, always ready to make a lasting impression.

One particular memory that stands out is our time together in Brooklyn. I remember the day we hopped into a cab, and as we approached our destination, Anthony suddenly flung the door open and yelled, "Run!" In a state of shock and confusion, I followed suit, running as fast as I could, not knowing where we were headed. When we finally caught up with each other, he pulled out a pocket full of money, laughing heartily, explaining that he just wanted me to experience the hustle and bustle of the city. That was Anthony—always finding a way to inject excitement and adventure into our lives.

Another cherished memory is when Anthony proudly introduced me to seemingly everyone at NC A&T, along with the homeboys from Red Springs. He treated me like a brother, showing me around campus and making sure I felt welcomed. We attended a lively 2a-6a party together, and I'll never forget how Anthony's charm attracted a crowd of enthusiastic female friends around us. However, when some individuals took issue with the attention, a brawl erupted unexpectedly. Without hesitation, Anthony started swinging (he wasn’t much on words especially in the face of danger). Together, we made our escape across campus, with me blindly following his lead. When we finally arrived at the safety of an off-campus girlfriend's house, he couldn't help but laugh uproariously, that was the Maniac I mentioned earlier.

Anthony was truly a remarkable friend, always bringing joy and excitement wherever he went. His vibrant personality and genuine care for others made him a cherished presence in our lives. The memories we created together will forever be etched in my heart, serving as a testament to the wonderful person he was.

During this time of grieving, I hope you find solace in the memories and love Anthony shared with us. His spirit will live on in our hearts, and though we mourn his loss, we can take comfort in knowing that he made a lasting impact on all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. Thankfully, our last words together were "I love You."

Never Forgotten...

Wow, so hard to believe my old friend is gone.  It was a pleasure to call him a friend. He always had us laughing and was always protective of his sister friends.
Anthony was very homie on Sunset drive. I always fuss with him about anything. We had some good times. Anthony always laugh at me when I fuss about him. He would reply okay you finish. Lord I miss him and them calls
I extend my sincere condolences. Anthony was down to earth guy. His presence was never a dull moment. Rest well Anthony
In 1995 a smooth Q knocked at my dorm door & asked was I the big dude that was singing in front of the cafe. I said yes and that started a 27 yr friendship. Big Money Grip became my big bro, my mentor and my family!! I remember wanting to drop out and he made me stay bc he was the first to tell me "everything worth having won't come easy & stick it out. Fast forward to now and I can say their would be no Coach Hump if there was no Money!!! So now for 21 yrs I have gave the same wisdom I got from him to the student i have taught or coached. Then 10 yrs ago I wanted to step out on faith and start do comedy & I called him for advice and he told me "Do that s**t!!! You been silly for yrs now it's time to get paid doing it. I even asked him to manage me but he said no bc this was my time to ride this journey but he still would check on me from time to time. Fast forward I have opened up for some of the biggest comedians in the game. So again I say there would be no Coach Hump or JD The Jokerr if there was no Money in Fall 95!!!! So to my big brother REST IN POWER!!!! I love you and I'm gone miss you!!!!

A letter to my Father,

Daddy, I’m so thankful our love is endless. I’m thankful for the many memories and moments you blessed me & my sisters with. You brought so much joy and laughter into our lives, we could never forget you. The memories of you will last forever and ever & I am proud to be your first born to carry my sisters through this tough time. You have always prepared me for this day to come… never thought it would be so soon. We will forever continue the “Manning’s” legacy. It pains me that you will never walk us down the aisle but you’ve seen so many accomplishments in our lives. From graduation 🎓 going to college, joining the army, receiving my Master’s & overcoming life’s challenges. There is no doubt in my mind that I haven’t made you proud, we all have. I will miss your voice and your random calls. It takes a lot to raise 5 daughters but yet…. you did it & created beautiful breathtaking young adults who will continue making you proud every step of the way. Don’t worry, Big Sis is here for them. We love you Daddy ♥️🕊️
