Anselmo “Tati” Martinez Fonseca falleció a la edad de 71 años en Miami, FL el 3 de diciembre del 2025. Anselmo nació el 1 de septiembre de 1954 en la Habana, Cuba, hijo de los difuntos Anselmo Martinez e Inés Fonseca. Emigro a los Estados Unidos a la edad de 37 años en 1991 con su hermano mayor, el difunto Carlos Martinez y su primo Omar Cárdenas. 

Al llegar a los Estados Unidos, Anselmo hizo lo que muchos inmigrantes hacen: trabajar duro para darle una mejor vida a su familia. Se dedico a la construcción, añadiendo belleza y clase a muchas casas y edificios en el sur de la Florida y en Utah. Instalo columnas, balaustradas y otros componentes hechos de piedras y concreto prefabricadas (precast stone). En su juventud llego a fundar tres compañías de fabrica e instalación de estas piezas. Una en asociación con Enrique Fuentes, una en asociación con Mario “papo” Rodriguez, y la última con su esposa. Llego a enseñarle el negocio a su yerno Rodrigo Salmeron, su amigo Ricardo “Pipo” Leyva, y a muchos más durante sus años laborales.

Conoció a su esposa, Eneida, en Miami, FL y luego de casarse, crearon una vida memorable para ellos y para sus seres queridos. Anselmo fue tan bondadoso que adopto y trato como hijos propios a los hijos de Eneida desde un principio. Los crio y fue único padre para los hijos de Eneida, apoyándolos en todo momento.

Anselmo sobrevivió el cáncer dos veces, la primera vez en el colon y luego en la vejiga. Aun con estas enfermedades, su espíritu nunca se opacó. Le gustaba bailar, viajar, y celebrar con familia y amigos. Siempre se mantenía de buen humor y le gustaba hacerle bromas a su nuera, su esposa, sus nietos, y muchos más. Utilizaba cualquier excusa para hacer una parrillada (BBQ) y pasarlo en compañía con música y alegría. Viajaba a Cuba cuando podía para visitar a su papá, hijo y hermano. Viajaba a Nicaragua a menudo para visitar al resto de la familia de Eneida. Tuvo la fortuna de poder viajar domestico e internacionalmente con sus hijos y nietos para visitarlos o para pasar vacaciones. Sufrió de decenas de intervenciones quirúrgicas y hospitalizaciones, pero siempre se mejoró gracias a su fuerza de voluntad y ganas de seguir al lado de su esposa y sus seres queridos.

Le sobreviven su amada esposa, Eneida Alvarado, con quien compartió 31 años de matrimonio; su hermano Miguel Martinez; su primo Omar Cárdenas; sus hijos Danny Martinez, Yahaira Karina Miranda, y José Nahum Miranda; nietos, Yaroan Salmeron y Alondra Salmeron; su yerno Rodrigo Salmeron; su nuera Ally McKeone; y sus sobrinos Carlos, Ilissys, Yosan, y Giselle; y los hijos de sus sobrinos.

Anselmo será velado y enterrado en Santo Tomas, Chontales, Nicaragua. Se hará una vela en su memoria en Miami el lunes 5 de enero del 2026 en la Funeraria Nacional (151 NW 37th Ave. Miami, FL 33125) de las 4:00 PM a las 10:00 PM. Debido a que el será llevado a Nicaragua, por favor no enviar flores a la funeraria. Su familia estará eternamente agradecida con su presencia.

Anselmo “Tati” Martinez Fonseca passed away at the age of 71 in Miami, FL on December 3, 2025. Anselmo was born on September 1, 1954, in Havana, Cuba, son of the late Anselmo Martinez and Inés Fonseca. He immigrated to the United States at the age of 37 in 1991 with his older brother, the late Carlos Martinez, and his cousin Omar Cárdenas.

Upon arriving in the United States, Anselmo did what many immigrants do: work hard to provide a better life for his family. He dedicated himself to construction, adding beauty and class to many homes and buildings in South Florida and Utah. He installed columns, balustrades, and other components made of precast stone and concrete. In his youth, he founded three companies that manufactured and installed these pieces. One in partnership with Enrique Fuentes, one in partnership with Mario “Papo” Rodriguez, and the last with his wife. He taught the business to his son-in-law Rodrigo Salmeron, his friend Ricardo “Pipo” Leyva, and many others during his working years.

He met his wife, Eneida, in Miami, FL, and after marrying, they created a memorable life for themselves and their loved ones. Anselmo was so kind that he adopted and treated Eneida's children as his own from the very beginning. He raised them and was a loving father figure to them, supporting them at all times.

Anselmo survived cancer twice, the first time colon cancer and then bladder cancer. Even with these illnesses, his spirit never dimmed. He loved to dance, travel, and celebrate with family and friends. He always maintained a good sense of humor and enjoyed playing jokes on his daughter-in-law, his wife, his grandchildren, and many others. He used any excuse to have a barbecue and spend time with loved ones, enjoying music and laughter. He traveled to Cuba whenever he could to visit his father, son, and brother. He traveled to Nicaragua often to visit the rest of Eneida's family. He was fortunate to be able to travel domestically and internationally with his children and grandchildren to visit them or to spend holidays together. He underwent dozens of surgeries and hospitalizations, but he always recovered thanks to his strong will and his desire to remain by his wife's side and with his loved ones.

Anselmo is survived by his beloved wife, Eneida Alvarado, with whom he shared 31 years of marriage; his brother Miguel Martinez; his cousin Omar Cárdenas; his children Danny Martinez, Yahaira Karina Miranda, and José Nahum Miranda; his grandchildren, Yaroan Salmeron and Alondra Salmeron; his son-in-law Rodrigo Salmeron; his daughter-in-law Ally McKeone; and his nieces and nephews Carlos, Ilissys, Yosan, and Giselle; and their children.

Anselmo will be waked and buried in Santo Tomas, Chontales, Nicaragua. A memorial service will be held in Miami on Monday, January 5, 2026, at the National Funeral Home (151 NW 37th Ave., Miami, FL 33125) from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Since he is being transported to Nicaragua, please no flowers to the funeral home. His family will be eternally grateful for your presence. 

The wake and burial arrangements in Santo Tomas are still being finalized; more details will be provided later.
