Personal note from David Chau

Dear Family and Friends,
It is with great sadness that I have to tell you that Annie passed away Friday morning, August 16, 2024 after a short 4 month, but courageous battle with endometrial (uterine) cancer.

Annie complained about abdominal pain in early March and saw multiple OB/GYN only to be diagnosed with an ovarian cyst and potential endometriosis.

The cancer was only detected on 14 May during a common surgery to remove the ovarian cyst.
Annie started chemotherapy 3 weeks later, and completed 2 chemo treatments in Kaiser Permanente, Hawaii before we transitioned her to Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK), NY in July where she completed her 3rd chemo and immunology session.

Unfortunately her cancer was incredibly rare and aggressive, and spent over two weeks in MSK Hospital from 22 July - 6 August, where we found out that chemo/immunology treatment was not effective.

During her stay in the hospital, there were small glimmers of hope and many prayers and friends and family that visited and we eventually tied the knot with MSK Chaplain officiating our wedding ceremony in the hospital and luckily received a surprised therapy dog visit after our wedding too. Annie was discharged on 6 August to home hospice where she spent her remaining days in Queens with her new husband, parents, sisters, and family.
Back at home, Annie was upbeat, her appetite grew, and she started playing the new Candy Crush. Unfortunately, after a few days, her decline was sudden and rapid and took her final breath on the morning of August 16, 2024.

I also want to sincerely thank all the friends & family that visited, reached out, brought deserts, or kept Annie in your prayers; I know Annie was deeply touched and appreciated all the kind gestures, but she is not one to want to burden others. Thank you.

“Tomorrow is not promised to anyone, young or old alike, And today may be the last chance you get to hold your loved one tight.”
