It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Annie Mildred Gurley Bridges Born on December 5, 1934, to the late Mr. Walter Gurley and Mrs. Mildred “Milburn” King Gurley of Marion, S.C.
She departed from this life on February 25, 2008 at East Orange General Hospital, East Orange, New Jersey. The train of eternity traveled from earth to Glory and it has twelve cars and 365 seats. Annie Mildred stepped on board and caught coach three, seat forty-five, and road nonstop to Glory.
Annie Mildred will be fondly remembered as a gracious beacon of strength and love in the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Annie Mildred graced this world with her presence for 74 heartwarming years. Throughout her lifetime, she touched countless lives, sharing with others the unique light that radiated from her spirit. Now, she rests peacefully having lived a life that was as remarkable as it was impactful.
Annie Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Levander Bridges, Hempstead, N.Y., father, Mr. Walter Gurley Sr., mother, Mrs. Mildred “Milburn” King Gurley, Brother, Mr. Harold Deon Gurley all of Marion S.C., and two sons: Mr. Richard “Ricky” Levale Bridges, Hempstead, N.Y., and Mr. Bruce Elliott Bridges, Marion S.C., and one step daughter: Mrs. Evelyn Manley, Marion, S.C.
She leaves to cherish her memories three brothers; Mr. Walter (Patsy) Gurley Jr., Marion S.C., Mr. George Edward (Martha) Gurley, Durham, N.C., Mr. Lawrence Jerome (Sandra) King, Tucson AZ., two sisters: Mrs. Catherine Gurley Godfrey, Marion, S.C. and Mrs. Doris Verneta (Guy) Davis, Goldsboro, N.C., four children, Sir Vernon Lee Gurley, Grands of East Orange, N.J., Mrs. Gloria Jean Gurley (Tyrone) Stewart, Suffolk, VA, Mr. Patrick (Debbie) Bridges, Mr. Robert Bridges, Long Island, N.Y., four stepsons: Mr. Rudy Bridges, Mr. Levander Bridgers Jr., Mr. James Thomas Bridges, and Mr. Walter Bryant Bridges: Two grand daughters: Miss. Salome Gurley, East Orange, N.J. Miss. Nicole Gurley, East Orange,NJ.: one grandson: Mr. Rashard Bridges, Hempstead, NY: one great grandson: Mr. Gamal Gurley, East Orange, N.J. A special cousin, Mrs. Bessie Mae Wilson, Marion, S.C., and special friend, Miss. Norma Jean Hemingway, Marion S.C.
While Annie Mildred physical presence will be deeply missed, her spirit endures in the cherished memories held by her loved ones. Each shared laugh, gifted smile, and unwavering display of love will serve as a timeless memento, reminding all who knew her of the incredible woman she was.
