Annie's obituary
Annie Earl Warren - Johnson was born to John Warren Sr. and Francis Ford on September 20, 1925 in Tyler Texas. She was the youngest of 8 children. She attended Jackson School in Tyler Texas. She was also raised by her Grandmother, Mary Warren who taught her the Christian walk. Her grandmother was a State Mother of Warren Temple.
In 1941, Annie Johnson married Matthew Johnson-Sr. They decided to move to California to raise a family and continue their Christian journey.
Mother Annie E. Johnson along with her husband Minister Matthew Johnson Sr. started attending Hamilton Temple and became the Noon Day Prayer Warriors. During one of the many church meetings, Bishop Dad Mason picked her out and called her up for prayer. He informed her that her work was great and that she would be blessed with more girls than boys. To the union of Mother Annie Johnson and Matthew Johnson Sr., eight children were born, 6 daughters and 2 sons.
Missionary Annie E. Johnson worked as a volunteer in her children schools as they were growing up. She was a loyal and hard-working mother who took care of not just her children but many other families who crossed her path.
Mother Annie E. Johnson was a true hospitality worker; she would serve anybody. If anyone was hungry or in need of clothing they were fed and clothed. People would know to come knocking at the Johnson’s residence, she never turned anyone away. Mother Annie Johnson conducted many services within the Church of God In Christ walls. She was a wife and mother first. Mother was known for her Sunrise Service humongous buttermilk biscuits, and her sweet potato pies. She also made sure you would get a peppermint candy. She worked in the Hospitality Department, The Home & Foreign Mission Department, Missionary Department, Deaconess Department, Usher Department and Mother’s Board.
