Most Fun Time with Annie

Let me tell you, I’ve had a lot of fun times with Annie! But I think the most fun was when a few of us drove over trail creek to the Mackey Rodeo. It was beyond our cowgirl imaginations. Watching those cowboys in action was so awesome! We all wore our best cowgirl hats! And boots! And loved every minute of our adventure! 🤠❣️

How I Met Annie

I met Annie hiking. We were both new to Ketchum and Sandy Frederick, a mutual friend, invited us to join her on the trails. That was the beginning of a beautiful friendship, full of fun and adventure, music, art and many toasts to friendship.

We both participated and volunteered with Sun Valley Center for the Arts and the Sun Valley Wine Auction. It was wonderful sharing many memorable experiences.

We also shared a bond with Stanford! Not that I went there. I went to rival USC! But my future husband coached football there - And a friend of mine from San Diego and Annie went to Stanford together. She was part of their great Stanford Ladies group. Small world. Six degrees of separation.

Our friendship was meant to be. ❤️

Annie and I shared a love of growing up on horses. We shared a love and appreciation for fine wines and years of working together for successful Sun Wine Auctions. We shared lectures and music and gallery shows at the Sun Valley Center for the Arts and Humanities. We shared  fine art,  visiting galleries and at last found THE PERFECT HORSE. We shared a love for morning walks on the  Silver Creek Preserve with tea and fresh scones... then lying on our bellies on the old wooden bridge watching the large fish. We shared a love of wildflowers and wild birds, comparing our lists regularly. We shared our family histories. We shared our dear mothers, each named Helen, when each relocated to the Wood River Valley to be near us.  We shared the Trailing of the Sheep Festivals and dog trials. We shared the Wagon Days Parades. We searched for and shared any croissants we could find.  We shared a mutual love of books, then shared them. We shared tea in the morning and in the afternoon maybe  with a shortbreads. We shared stories of family, and always the latest adventures of Big and Little Conwells and Fullers. We shared telephone visits, and finding and sending lovely cards, and we shared stories.  We often shared how lucky we felt to have found such a fine, true,  and gentle friendship.

Jeff, Mark, Patrick,  I’m so sad to hear your Mother Passed away. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her. If you have a service let me know, I doubt I could travel   but I’d like to send flowers.  🙏🏻 Aunt Pat

I am remembering Annie with so much love -- on her 88th birthday. I miss her (beaucoup)!  I am forever grateful for the extra-wonderful times we shared. Our mantra: "No one can do France like we do."

I remember my family spending many Thanksgivings together at Annie's homes.  While the kids were out playing, the parents were inside, enjoying a cocktail or two. No matter how giddy they got, Annie always served a perfectly delectable turkey dinner.

I will remember Annie as a happy, warm, energetic, fun, athletic, GENEROUS, STRONG, humorous, and incredibly intelligent woman. Mostly I remember Annie as the very best lifelong friend of my mom, Diane. I have lived vicariously through their travels (what fun!). 

I credit Annie for saving my mom's life. I am not sure if my mom would be here today without Annie's help. I will forever be grateful to Annie. 

Even though I haven't seen Annie in over a decade, I still envision a beautiful, spry lady. I have had many great phone conversations with her since 2018. The last time I saw Annie in person was with my mom, in Annie's spectacular and cozy Sun Valley (Idaho!) home.

If it weren't for Annie, my mom may not be here today. I credit Annie for saving my mom's life. I have traveled vicariously through my mom and Annie-- some fun adventures, for sure!

The passing of Annie is sad for all her loved ones -- and she has so many!!!!!  Even though it's been decades since I've seen Annie, I have a beautiful vision of her, young and spry. I have had several great phone calls with Annie since 2018. She was a true gem on this planet. The last time I saw her was with my mom, in Annie's spectacular and cozy Sun Valley (Idaho!) home.

Oh my gosh.  I am so sorry to hear this news,  from Nairobi.  I met Annie here in 1970 when she was married to Mike and they had small boys. Or maybe they were expecting babies, am a bit foggy on that. We shared some wonderful experiences, like getting chased by Cape Buffalo on the Ngong Hills after a bottle of cheap red wine and our only defense was the Masai spear we had just purchased from a passing warrior. And the trip to Thompson's Falls, where  their clapped out VW Micro Bus lost an engine.  

I stayed with them many times when they were living in the beautiful Napa Valley. Those evenings, fueled by much better wine, were filled with much sarcastic conversation and barrels of laughter.

Annie made a trip back to Kenya a couple of decades later and stayed with us.  A few years ago, we were in Boise and tried to contact her by all available means, with no success. She was a lovely,  strong lady and a true friend. 

I would love to hear from the boys.

Annie was a warm hearted, generous, highly intelligent and strong woman. I credit Annie with saving my mom’s life. My mom had endured elder abuse from my sister for over 20 years. Annie couldn’t stand it any longer, and reported it to the police (with her friend Sandra). My estranged sister was arrested and Mom was free. Annie opened up her home to my mom for a month before my mom headed to Arizona. Thank you, Annie! ❤️ I’m forever grateful. Rest in peace. I know Annie was my mom’s best friend ever and this is a huge loss. 

When the younger generation in the Miller family (Kathy, Cliff & David) think of Annie we think of 2 favorite things- her amazing strawberry pies and Sun Valley gatherings of family and friends. Annie you were a dear and lifelong friend to our parents Connie & John. I know we will think of you and miss you on our Sun Valley hikes.

My brothers and I are so grateful for the love and companionship Annie gave our dad , Doug Christie, during his last decade .  We all agreed that their relationship added both quality and time to his life . She was also so gracious to us, Doug’s children as well as his grandchildren . I’m so glad to have shared time with her. My sincere condolences. 

Having met at Spring Lake Village, Annie's and my friendship was not long, but it was sooooo good. She shared her enthusiasms,  opinions, excellent design taste, and her granddaughters eggs.  Her recent years are heartbreaking. My most sincere sorrow to you, her dearly loved family. You have beenn lucky to have her.
