Anne Marie Root, 56, of Auburn Hills, Michigan, passed away on May 12, 2021, surrounded by her family.

Anne was born in Detroit, Michigan, to Roland II and Betty Schemers on September 25, 1964. Anne studied mathematics and computer science at Central Michigan University, graduating with her degree in 1986. Anne went on to work a 20 year career in information technology at Chrysler, where she was a beloved manager and colleague.

Anne became a mother in 1993 and 1994, to daughters Aslynn Cummings and Margaret Wyatt, and her daughters were her world. Anne was a loving and dedicated mother to her daughters, and took on a motherly role to those lucky enough to know her.

In 2000, Anne married Douglas Root, her soulmate. Meeting Douglas was Anne’s most cherished success during her time at Chrysler. Anne and Douglas became inseparable following their first date, and remained that way throughout their 21 year marriage.

In 2009, Anne graduated from Oakland University’s accelerated nursing program and became a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse at Ascension St. John Hospital. Anne excelled in nursing and found her niche working with babies in the NICU. Anne adored her patients and met some of her dearest friends while working as a nurse.

Loving, nurturing, and accepting of all, Anne had the most beautiful soul which will continue to live on in those who love her.

Anne is survived by her husband Douglas; children Aslynn (Katherine) and Margaret; stepchildren Julie (Brad), and Paul (Amy); pet Maya; grandchildren Ella, Ethan, Bennett, Matthew, Jack, and Nolan; parents Roland II and Betty; brothers Roland III (Lindsay), Matthew (Jennifer), and Mark (Denise); sisters Theresa and Sandra (Justin); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Anne was predeceased by her sister Elizabeth; maternal and paternal grandparents; nephew Christopher; and her dear pet Kiko.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Anne’s name to The Ehlers-Danlos Society. Services will be held privately with close family and friends due to the ongoing pandemic.
