Anne is definitely remembered and never forgotten! I was just thinking about one of the walks Anne and I took in the Bay Area, near her parents house... she was a great hiking companion!
Miss you Anne, have not forgotten your great attitude, your listening abilities and your never ending kindness, I hope you are floating in happiness

We will always be so sad at losing our Californian friend. Listening to California Girls by the Beach Boys always reminds us of her, and the wonderful times we had together when we met, over 40 years ago when we were gloriously young and disco was the tops in San Francisco.
And through Anne, we met her lovely family with whom we became great friends over the years. Anne, what a great lady you are.
Loved, missed and in our thoughts, always, Andrea and Trevor...UK
Sending love to all of Anne’s Family from Eileen and Brian in the West of Ireland☘️ We have lovely memories of Joan and Anne’s visits always lots of fun and laughter a joy to have known her 🙏💕xxx
Julie, Scott, and Kurt -
I was so saddened to hear of your mom's death. Anne was such a sweet person, great nurse and a dear friend. We worked together in Anchorage and had kept in touch over the years. Even though I knew the three of you when you were kids, I was able to 'watch' you grow through your mom's loving stories and pictures. She was so proud of all of you! I could feel the great love and pride when reading her letters or when visiting with her. I will miss her. ❤️

I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to you during this time. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I met Anne, Joan and the Hextrum family when I was making my first trip to the USA. I traveled with an Australian, Ken, and Anne took us under her wing and showed us SF, it was a wonderful time in the disco era and we were all so young. Anne and Joan came and stayed with me in Birkenhead where I was teaching. Helen visited as well and all my pupils were so excited at meeting real American ladies for the first time. Anne and Joan wowed the local lads, returning to my apartment early one morning as I was just leaving for school. They looked very sheepish. Eventually I went to Dubai where I met my wife, Andrea, and Anne and Joan went to Israel and Saudi. Anne is a wonderful friend to me and Andrea and we miss her so very much. We will maintain our long friendship with Anne' through her children, our house will be always open to them.

Mollie's new Grandson fell asleep on Anne's chest & warm heart; she found laughter in simple things. She loved babies, children, people from all walks of life. Since her illness came back, she lived in the moment. She took the time to have small talk with everyday people......... One time in a hospital stay she took the time showing care and asking questions of the cleaning lady. This lady was so touched by Anne, on her off time she bought Anne a plant with a sign that said, "You're Awesome!"

Dear Scott, Julie and Kurt,
I am heartbroken to hear the news of your mother's passing. I'm one of the many who love Anne dearly and have been truly privileged to know her. Over the last years she has come to the Awake & Alive Mindful Living with Cancer Retreat on Whidbey Island each year even when she has been very sick. Each year she told me "I practice relentless optimism!"
We have all been inspired, awed and deeply touched by your mother and her very beautiful heart and presence. We will miss her greatly when we gather this April.
With love to you all
Erica
1 year before Mom's diagnosis…
2013
1 year before Mom's diagnosis we did a 5 day trek to Machu Picchu. There were people half her age who got tired and rode a horse on the most difficult day of the trek.
My husband Barry & I were saddened to hear about the passing of Anne. She was a Dear Friend to my sister Joan & touched us all. In May 1979, our daughter Erica was born. Joan & Anne were there. The night before Erica was born, we all went for Maryland Steamed Crabs. Anne’s early year road trip to Alaska, we got to see & enjoy the pictures. At Christmas time, we would keep in touch. 11-26-16 Anne wrote to us: Dearest Carol & Barry, It was an excellent year for Travels seeing a lot of Switzerland, Stockholm & England for 5 weeks. She loved the cathedrals, museums, mountains, rivers, Wine on the Rhine. She wrote she was ready for home. She found she was not able to travel for long periods as she did with Joan in the past. Her words to US, Keep Traveling!! Anne will remain a Happy Memory. She will be missed but not forgotten.
Love, Carol, Barry, Curtis & Erica❤️

I worked with Anne at the Palo Alto VA for several years before I retired in 2013. Anne was a brave woman and a real fighter. I am so sorry for your loss.
