Anne's obituary
Anne Harvey Butler | February 1, 1962 to January 19, 2026
Anne Harvey Butler passed away, peacefully but unexpectedly, at home on Monday, January 19.
Anne was married to Michael J. Butler from 1989 until his death in 2017. She was the beloved mother of Julia Butler and Brendan (Olivia) Butler, as well as the devoted grandmother of Caroline Butler and a second baby expected this spring.
Anne was the oldest child of the late Bob and Nancy Harvey, and she was the dear sister of Matthew Harvey (Jackie), Molly Harvey Mulvihill (Tom), Bridget Harvey Nations (John), and Bart Harvey. Anne considered Valerie Goldston (Greg Conroy) and Jim Lott siblings as well. She was the sister-in-law of Cathy Schrader (Steve), Pat Butler (Sue), Dan Butler (Nancy), and Judy Umentum (Matt).
Anne was the favorite fun aunt of 10 Harvey nieces and nephews as well as 10 Butler nieces and nephews. She was especially close to her niece, Alexandra Harvey. She was the great-aunt of 19, many of whom she spent time with regularly.
She could frequently be found supporting her great nieces and nephews at school carnivals, CYC sporting events, parades, and library story times. Anne was a party planner for Saturday trips to Soulard Farmer’s Market and regular weekend lunches with her siblings. Most importantly, Anne spent a considerable amount of time with her granddaughter, Caroline, who was the absolute light of her life.
Anne was born and raised in Webster Groves, attending Visitation Academy, Holy Redeemer, and Nerinx Hall, before graduating from Maryville University in 1984. She enjoyed a long career in the printing industry before retiring in 2024.
Over the past few years, Anne devoted her life to caring for individuals with special needs by being a support staff member at TASK in Fenton. She adored the students, and they were drawn to her.
Anne had a vast number of friends from seemingly every stage of her life. She adored girls’ trips, pool time, reading, listening to music, over-introducing people, and being with her children, who were her absolute favorite people. She loved being the first one on the dance floor, was always close by with a word of encouragement, and had an unforgettable, infectious laugh. Put simply, when Anne was present, fun followed.
Anne’s wish for her body to be donated to Saint Louis University School of Medicine was honored.
There will be a visitation with the family at Our Lady of Providence Catholic Church at 8866 Pardee Road in St. Louis on Saturday, January 31 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., immediately after which there will be a Memorial Mass.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the following organizations would be most welcomed:
