Bunny's obituary

Anna “Bunny” Loretta Calhoun, 79, of Cuthbert, GA passed away on Monday, February 28, 2022, in the Columbus Hospice. A memorial service will be held at Cuthbert First Baptist Church on Thursday, March 3rd at 5:30 PM

Bunny was born on October 20, 1942, in Peekskill, NY the daughter of the late Edward Brown and Anna Loretta Heady Eggleston. She was a retired secretary for Karina Investments and received her associate degree from Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC. She was a member of the Cuthbert First Baptist Church where she served in the music program for many years.

Bunny was an extraordinary woman who always had a smile and easy laugh, even amidst a prolonged battle with cancer. She could accomplish whatever she set her mind to. Her hands were constantly busy with sewing, crocheting, and working on projects to improve the lives of others: such as making hundreds of sleeping mats for the homeless, and masks for healthcare workers.

Bunny’s life was a living example of her signature quote, “Only one life, t’will soon be past; only what’s done for Christ will last.” Her life was characterized by her service to the Lord and dedication to Him. She loved music, and often played piano and violin in church and taught private lessons. She taught hundreds of children about God through church choirs, puppet ministries, and Bible clubs. She especially enjoyed traveling with Mitchell in their RV as they volunteered their talents to a variety of religious and charitable organizations.

Bunny will be remembered for being a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She believed, and encouraged others to believe, that God was in complete control of everything and knows what is best. Her family will strive to continue her legacy by loving relentlessly, speaking life through word and melody, and impacting the world for the good: one moment at a time.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Irvin Mitchell Calhoun of Cuthbert, a daughter, Cheryl (Ester) Calhoun of Denver, CO, a son, Keith (Kristin) Calhoun of Aldie, VA, 2 sisters, Lora Pierce of Austin, TX and Peggy Brown of St, Johnsville, NY and 9 grandchildren, Sean, Jessica, Kyle, Klay, Kason, Kenneth, Kaleb, Krystal and Karalyn.
