Ann's obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ann Geraghty, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Ann was born on March 22, 1951 and passed away peacefully on March 31, 2024.
Ann made her journey into the world in the spring of 1951. She was born to Ed and Margaret O'Neill in Yonkers NY, the youngest of four daughters. She was a remarkable person whose generosity of spirit endeared her to all who knew her. Her vibrant smile was contagious, and she had an enchanting knack for making people feel special and loved.
In 1972, she married the love of her life, John Geraghty. Their love story was one of deep affection, respect, and shared joy. Together they welcomed their first child on June 18, 1976, and later expanded their family on May 21, 1978, and May 10, 1982. Ann loved being a mother and her sons Brian, Keith, and Sean Geraghty brought her immeasurable joy and pride.
After raising her three sons, Ann returned to the business world by working as a financial research librarian for Evergreen Asset Management in Purchase, NY. She was also active in the boys’ school lives devoting time to the Fordham Prep Mother’s Club as their treasurer for two years. She finished her working career as the Assistant Comptroller for the Sisters of Mercy in Hartsdale, NY.
In 2007, Ann and John moved to Savannah, GA, surrounding themselves with stunning architecture, idyllic natural beauty, and peaceful southern charm. Ann loved to travel, with Italy being one of her favorite vacation spots. She found beauty and joy in experiencing new cultures and exploring historic sites.
Ann was also actively involved in her retirement life on Skidaway Island. She was the co-founder of the Landings Kayak Club with her dear friend, Diane, as well as being on various committees of the Landings New Neighbors Group.
Not only did Ann leave an unforgettable mark on her immediate family, but she also shared a special bond with her sisters, Eileen Moran, Meg Lau, and Cathy Urquhart. They shared laughter, tears, and countless memories, defining an unbreakable bond of sisterhood cherished by all of them.
Ann leaves behind a legacy of love and enduring strength. She is survived by her husband, John Geraghty; her sisters, Eileen Moran, Meg Lau, and Cathy Urquhart; her sons, Brian, Keith, and Sean Geraghty; and her grandchildren Kevin and Paige, Kai and Maisie, and Keegan and Lena.
Ann will be deeply missed by all those who were fortunate enough to have known her, but her spirit will live on in the many hearts she touched throughout her life.
