My mom’s 40th birthday on December 5th, 2017. I’m so grateful that her last birthday was spent with the things she loved the most, music and family. She danced all night long, with most of us just watching her. My mother was always the light in the room that you couldn’t take your eyes off of. A beautiful woman with a beautiful spirit who left this earth too soon. I love you mom, happy birthday❤️

I have so many wonderful memories with Ms. Anita. One time Mekhia and I were playing hide and seek and I somehow managed to get myself locked inside her closet. Luckily, she got me out using a knife to turn the doorknob!! She was the nicest person ever. During the Living Museum in eighth grade, she came over to where I was stationed, listened to my entire presentation, and congratulated and hugged me. I always felt so supported and loved by her and she truly felt like a second mom to me. I miss her so much!

some of my favorite memories of her was when dad and i would come and pick you up from your house. i knew ms.anita was going to be waiting on the porch and for some reason i was always excited to see her because she always so nice and sweet to me. and i’ve always envied her dimples 😂
