Anita's obituary
My name is Alice Evyone Meadows and Anita Kay Smith was my mother.
Anita Smith, 72, of Livingston, TX, passed away on October 19, 2022, after a short battle with cancer.
Anita was born on January 10, 1950, to Marriam and Myrtle Ott in Bedford, Indiana. She was the fifth of seven children. Bernice, William, Zettie, David, Anita, Jackie, and Susie. While in school, she met Ed Smith-who was a big brother to William and David. Once she turned 16, they married in a small wedding on June 6, 1966. They went on to have 1 child when she was 18. Alice Evyone Smith-(spouse Steven Edward Meadows)- had made her a grandmother of twins, Chandice Danielle (spouse David Karver), and Amber Nicole (spouse Casey Arredondo). - Upon the girls becoming married, she became a great-grandmother to Gavin, Jamie, and Alisaie.
Anita excelled at supporting Alice when she was in the campfire girls. She made sure that all the badges were made and that all the girls had a chance at receiving one. She transported me on my adventures of swimming, gymnastics, and any other sport I couldn't achieve in. But she never showed disappointment with me. She always made sure that my father signed me up for the YMCA camp and sold enough candy (to athletes at the YMCA) so I could also go camping at the Campfire Girls camp yearly. My mom was the best at navigating the great 45 South in Houston. Every day we would head downtown and back (this was twice a day) and if there was an issue on the freeway like there always was, Anita could always get us home at approximately the same time every day, using the many back roads (this was before Google). This of course rubbed off on me and is now being passed down to her granddaughter.
Anita was passionate about her dog, Pocket. He never left her side. Not only will we miss her, but her loving sisters and other family and friends will also be lost without her. I will miss you more than anyone can imagine mom.
She was predeceased by Her father, mother, ex-spouse, and 2 brothers. She is survived by Alice (Steven), Chandice (David) Gavin, and Jamie, as well as, Amber (Casey) and Alisaie. The rest of my family will truly miss the little smiles that she did. She is now watching over all of us as well as Bernice (Harvey), Zettie-Lonnie and Todd, Jackie-Johnny, and Susie (Randy) Mary and Deborah.
The family requests that all flowers and notes are sent to Forest Park East (Webster, TX). There will be a celebration of life and internment on October 31, 2022, at 10 am at Forest Park East.
